To play devil's advocate here: we blame people for listing them at these high prices, but nobody's forcing anyone to pay these ridiculous prices.

TnVGaming the problem is they buy it out and we can't get them from the original store. so where do we go? to the places that have it. and those scumbags know we want it so someone whose desperate will buy it. the idiot.

Who tf even has the money for this shit? Nt to mention, there's other solutions. Just get an NES emulator. Or, get an actual NES. In fact, people make retro consoles, or cool looking NES consoles that have HDMI input. There is absolutely no reason to waste *thousands* on something like this. Even the nostalgia-blinded Nintendo fanboys would be smart to *not* do it, because there's so many ways to play NES games. Heck, I got my old NES after all these years, I thought it was gone. Its just the console itself, but I can just order the cables, and get some games from a flea market, or order them. So, I don't even need thing mini NES, that cash-in on nostalgia.

Nobody is going to buy one of these systems for thousands of dollars. These scalpers are just going to end up sitting on a bunch of worthless product and they will have lost a ton of money. There is virtually no demand for the NES Classic. Real hard decision, "Which would I rather spend my thousands of dollars on? An emulator that plays 30 year old 8 bit games, or a top of the line computer that can play EVERY GAME EVER MADE in the last 30 years and for the next 30 years?" Yeah, real tough choice...

Ada Palis Well, Nintendo put the Game Theory video about Amiibo shortages on their "Nintendo Favorites" playlist, so... doesn't that kinda seem like Nintendo confirming it? And they'll probably underprice the Switch too. Edit: Unfortunately for me, I don't live in the US, so I won't get a cheap Nintendo Switch. Edit 2: Actually, considering Nintendo seem to be underpricing the NES Classic in Europe too, I might end up getting a Nintendo Switch for cheap. Yay!

That's not what it's for, it's two things, one, easy way for low end gamers who don't know much PC stuff or are maybe too young to have ever been able to experience playing an original NES to have some kind of experience, and two, it's a member berries machine, honestly that's it's first use, it's just to give people like richy or someone in their 30's or 40's some good old fashion member berries, yea you could play it on your PC, but this thing even has an CRT setting just to make it feel like your playing it on your parents living room television on Christmas morning of 1985, it's suppose to be sentimental

Woogoo336 Well personally I don't think third party games have been all that great on Wii U,ps4 or xbox 1 as they're all terribly broken on all consoles.Horrible glitches the game freezing constantly in that you have to unplug the console and start again frustratingly.Third party games not getting patched because of lazy developers, lack of playtesting and overall poor quality control. In my opinion if the trend of broken 3rd party games continues from lazy developers then nintendo doesn't really need their support or neither do nintendo fans.At least with nintendo games they're not a broken mess and you can actually play them knowing that you don't have to wait for damn patches to even play the game.

I hope no dumbass actually buys it for $400 and let's this shit practice perpetuate. These games have been available to play for 25-30 years, and the stock for this will obviously replenish soon or eventually. The point of this is the novelty of feeling like you're playing an iconic retro console again, the convenience, and it's a pretty good value if you were looking to play the games legally. It's not like the Wii where the games and the motion controllers were brand new and can only be played on the Wii, which gave you a reason to pay an extra $100-200 to get it sooner. So it's so stupid to be paying a ridiculous amount of money to get the NES mini early, it's not going anywhere.

they will restock because it's the only thing they can sell during xmas. Wii U is dead, no big 3ds games for holiday season...3 more weeks and there will be plenty for everybody. This is nintendo being nintendo. Did the exact same thing with amiibos. It really creates hype, but if they continue doing this...it will definitely be more harmful than lucrative. Switch initial sale will be a living hell. This is a lesser problem here in Europe. I remember mini nes's listing being active in amazon uk at least for 4 days. Apparently NOA takes this creating hype/demand shitty business practice more serious than other nintendo subsidiaries.

All I see is a good business, that exploits people who are willing to pay too much. Blame people who are willing pay this much and are making demand for this.

The thing that has to be considered here are online stores. People are not walking into a store and coming back out with 10-20 of the things. Individual retail locations would never allow it. The scalpers are going to the retail store websites and pre-ordering dozens of things at once weeks in advance. While the retail chains do keep back some units to be distributed to the stores, the online ordering system gets priority, and even if the website place limits on the number units that can be purchased per user per transaction these scalpers use bot programs that can place dozens of orders every second. This is why popular in demand products always sell out within minutes of going online.

Brad if you're a danger to yourself you shouldn't even be on the internet, you could even buy a expensive art piece, not just this thing. you're over exaggerating of how dumb person can be if they can get on the internet

My Walmart gets 1 Nintendo shipment every Wednesday at 1pm, and the same guy apparently came 3 weeks in a row to buy the NES Classics. I'm sure he's a scalper.

I work at Target and they only sent 2! They barely touched the shelf and they were sold. Let's just say our phones were blowing up the whole day asking for them. It was pretty bad

Stores limited the number. I work in a store. We limited it to one per person. We had tickets - one ticket per person and each ticket had the same number as the unit. We had people on a line before the store opened.

Nintendo is not a good company. I am sorry. I have been a die hard fan my whole life but what they are doing is stupid and unfair to loyal consumers. It all started with Amiibo and they still have not learned their lesson. If they continue this, they will lose more customers.

The mini NES is not a major console release though. Understocking is not a big issue. I just hope they don't make the same mistake with the Switch, because that'll sell fucking phenomenally.
@JonnySpec

+Serafin Oh they'll do this again with the Switch. And it won't be a mistake. They'll do this on purpose, and the Switch will be a huge success. People will buy Nintendo Switches from retailers for $299 or less each, and sell them on ebay for $400+ lol (I could be wrong, but I don't think I'll be, I think Nintendo have even confirmed it in a way.)

SpectrumUK Eh, possibly, but it seems that Nintendo has woken up, and it doesn't make sense to use their past mistakes to predict their possible future mistakes anymore.

Serafin - If it was a mistake, then I'd agree with you. But it's completely intentional. I might as well mention Game Theory's video on Amiibo shortages, since it completely explains this.

SpectrumUK Well, mistakes don't have to be accidental. After all, they're only mistakes in hindsight. That's why I hope Nintendo corrects their mistakes. I believe I saw the GT video. Idk, kinda stopped watching because the theories got dumb af.
