Grinding in a nuzlocke removes basically the entire point of the run. You can grind to level 100 safely and make any challenge meaningless.

@@psycane8462 Grinding six Pokemon five levels over the gym would also make most battles entirely trivial, considering that most leaders that early don't even have a full team.

@@Elyzeon. Level 100 is just an arbitrary number. It could be level 50 or even 30 in this case. Both would entirely remove the challenge. My point is why even bother with the challenge if you're just gonna grind to make it easy? The levels he went into the battle with were entirely reasonable, he only lost cause he ran into a Kyogre with a decent moveset. Which is why nuzlocke randomizer runs are kinda dumb, because you're either relying on not getting randomly blown out by a legendary, or you end up grinding and making everything that isn't a legendary way too easy.

From my understanding, truant causes loafing every other turn no matter what. So you might as well use healing items on the loaf turns. If scykoh had realized this, whiskey jack might have survived. I cringed when he used healing items on the attack turns and tried to attack on the loafing turns.

If only he had realised that Wiscash had Frenzy Plant, which is OP with truant, has a base power of 150, AND is super effective against Kyogre.

kyogre is a special wall, and whiscash had the attack boost from swagger, so body slam was better in that situation

No frezny plant was still the best option. 300 power (super effective) against 160 for the boosted body slam, every time he attacks. And even if Kyogre does have a lot more Spe Def than Def, at such a low level the difference between them is nearly nothing. He would've swept with Frenzy Plant for sure.

@@vincent-ataramaniko Not exactly correct. 300 power is far off. First: Super Effective doesn't x2 the power on the move, it more doubles the damage, Also 300 (doubt it is this high, probably more around 200) power did very little as seen on the video. Kyogres base sp def is 140 and had a 3-5 level advantage. A 200 power special move, with 3-5 levels lower power, even though super effective, Body Slam would still do more damage due to the +2 attack boost with swagger.

If he had switched out off leech seed and had then come back, he would've gotten an easy 2HKO with frenzy plant considering that the boosted body slam nearly did half health.
