Something else to consider is the "endurance" designation. This is usually labeled as High | Max | Pro endurance which means they are meant for continuous writes. Something you'll want if you throw it in say your Wyze cam/dashcam for continuous recording. I've used many other fast speed cards not marked as endurance, that end up failing a year or so later.

Excellent video. It provided clear and concise information. I wish I had seen your video before purchasing a MicroSD card, it would have saved me worry about buying the wrong card. I decided to buy a 256gb MicroSD to replace a 128gb MicroSD in my digital audio player but I was concerned about how long it would take my player to boot up since it first must read the card. Fortunately, it turns out my old card was a U1/A1 and my new one is a U3/A2 with a faster read/speed, so my player boots up much faster despite the higher capacity.

I bought a Sony 64gb SCXC. It was supposed to be 90 mb write speed but they sent a 70. It's not the card pictured and appears to be overpriced as well. It also says V30 and 4K on it.

i work in a tech shop and get a lot of ppl needing sd cards for expanding memory on phones and games consoles (switchs, 2ds, etc) so im trying to learn a bit more, i know that SanDisk brought out a special line of officially licensed SD cards for the switch & in trying to figure out what exactly makes them different from the regular SanDisk line, this videos helped quite a bit so thanks 🙏

PLEASE remember *1 MB/s* (capital _B_ for Byte) is the same as *8 Mb/s* (lowercase _b_ for bit) i know this but somehow still forgot while searching through a ton of SD card specs. Also videofiles in your operating system and video editor use typically a bitrate while SD cards mostly use the Byte units on the label.

Love the explanation and the delivery/content. I use an M1 Mac with 16g internal. I use Davinci Resolve for video editing. The FB Forum has suggested hosting my cache and proxy media on a separate drive, for convenience I thought about using a micro sd card, doesn't need to be huge as I will delete everything after I have rendered a video. Sow as thinking 256, U3C10A1 and what ever else is the fastest. Is this plausible?

Some Sdxc cards have no V designation on them but still show UHS-ii and 3 in the U and 10 in the circle - being a UHD-ii would it mean it’s a minimum of v30? Or does anyone know what min write speed that means ?
