The 2020 edition of Trains’ Locomotive magazine lamented the disappearance of the classic end-cab switcher thanks in part to the Staggers Act, which allowed railroads to dump anything that was inefficient. Well here we have a couple of examples of the seemingly inefficient end-cab switchers looking and sounding awesome. Not so fast Mr. Iden-they’ve got more than a few miles left in them! Awesome video!
@SD4575002 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the kind words on the video! These locomotives have a lot of life left in them, and are good pullers from what I've heard. Thank you for watching!

My my, that #302 GATX switcher sure is a sharp looking unit. Just a lovely, blissful ten minute escape!

Quite a coincidence that former MILW trackage is using a former MILW MP15AC. It used to have a Prime 920 like any other MILW engine. Later replaced by a P3 when it went to SOO but it was replaced by a Raised Letter K3LA which it has now.
@SD4575002 жыл бұрын
Now that is a cool fact I never knew about the MP15ACs. Prime 920s are good horns too... Thank you for the comment, and watching!

Looked that area up on a map. Lots of businesses on or just off Lone Oak Road in Eagan. Thx.
@SD4575002 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there is a maze of tracks in that area, so finding them can be a challenge! Its a neat operation that I wouldn't mind shooting more of in the future. Thank you for the comment, and watching.

@@SD457500 Your welcome!! I sure did =- ) I've noticed a fair number of your videos have switcher engines/yard loco's in them. Are you not near a main line, or do you like getting industrial switching and shortlines best?

@@norfolksouthernmemphiswest5978 I'm near a lot of mainline action, but the industrial areas and shorelines seem to have a lot of neat operations. :) I shoot the mainline a lot, but I rarely post it....yet!

could you drone or take video of the eagandale line to rosemount? never have seen a train on robert st
@SD4575002 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment! This is that line, they just didn't happen to run to Rosemount when I took these clips. I'll make a point to shoot that part eventually; there are MANY neat photo ops in that area.

Any reason you couldn’t tell the industries they were serving??
@tomroise942610 ай бұрын
I meant what was in the Cars. Only one industry had paper. Thank you for sharing. Great drone coverage?
@SD45750010 ай бұрын
Reason behind that is two fold; I'm not sure what's in it, and I don't want to include wrong information in the video. Its amazing what can be in freight cars, but we seldomly know. Thanks for watching!

I worked that job off the extra board outta Austin . The Northfield and Rosemount jobs were both ours for decades . Until the C.P broke us up and scabed out the work . I also made a heckuva lot more money then these guy's are making. Union job's are best. Milwaukee road was too .
@JPF9412 жыл бұрын
got to love the union mentality. To be blunt, the work would not be there if it had not been "scabed" out.
