New Seat Leon 2020 Multimedia Infotainment System & Digital Cockpit Review.
Unsurprisingly, the cockpit of the new Seat Leon is fairly digital and buttonless, depending on the equipment. Analog round instruments are still available, then in conjunction with an 8.25-inch infotainment display on the flat center console.
As an option package, Seat will offer the digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch display and a 10-inch touchscreen on the same line of sight. Operation via an advanced voice control system, which also understands freely spoken commands such as "I'm cold" and is activated via the "Hola, Hola" command, is taken over by the new VW Golf. This also applies to the touch slider under the screen, which can be used to change the temperature or volume of the music.
With the built-in eSIM, the Seat Leon is online. The music in the car can also come from the internet radio. Or streamed on the smartphone. Android Auto still requires a cable connection for this, Apple CarPlay also works without ("wireless").

The next-generation SEAT Leon gives the consumer greater opportunity to take their digital lives with them into the vehicle, and also when they’re out of the car. The all-new SEAT Leon is the brand’s first fully connected vehicle, offering connectivity with Full Link - Android Auto and also wireless access to Apple’s CarPlay - and, online infotainment and will offer in-car apps in the near future that expand and improve the customer’s driving experience. Once out of the vehicle, users can access their vehicle’s data remotely and also manage the charging process and control the air conditioning remotely (in the case of the plug-in hybrid version).
The number of in-car and online services will grow through the life of the vehicle as the digital eco-system expands, enhancing the user experience.
A new world is being opened up thanks to the SEAT Connect app which can be downloaded to your smart device, giving remote control over a plethora of functions that will help maximise the driver enjoyment and help improve safety too.
Once outside the vehicle, thanks to the SEAT Connect app, users can remotely access their vehicle’s data: driving data, parking position, vehicle’s status, including doors and lights, set up speed alerts so you can be warned if someone using your vehicles is driving too quickly, area and anti-theft alerts, open and close the doors with the remote lock and unlock service, or can remotely activate the horn and turn signals to find the car more easily.
It doesn’t end there, with the introduction of the plug-in hybrid variant, additional features to help users have also been added. Plug-in hybrid vehicle drivers can manage the charging process remotely via the e-Manager, control the air conditioning and manage departure times all from the smartphone app.
The standard Media system boasts an 8.25” screen, while the larger 10” screen Navi system offers 3D connected navigation and natural voice control (the system responds by simply saying the international word “Hola Hola”) as well as gesture recognition to simplifiy user interaction.
In addition, the online connectivity via the embedded eSIM allows some infotainment functions to use real time information from the cloud, adding an additional dimension to the traditional navigation system. For example, online traffic information, parking and petrol station position and also the opening times and current prices.
Once inside the vehicle, SEAT CONNECT offers online traffic information, opening times and current prices of petrol stations, and the possibility to plan a trip from home and send it to the vehicle, so that everything is ready once you start the engine.
And, for those who don’t want to be limited to the radio they listen to, the all-new SEAT Leon brings online radio into the cabin, allowing the customer to listen to any online radio station they choose, even if it’s from a different country.
SEAT CONNECT also brings more safety with the emergency call (manual or automatic), which sends important data from the car to the emergency services such as car position, engine type, car colour or number of passenger, making it easier for them to assist.

This is the kind of car review I need to see! Why everyone seems to think we all need to know how quick a car does 0-100 on the autobahn will forever baffle me. I want to see the things I will be using every day that are of convenience to me as the driver! Good video - thank you a great help - however having bought a new Leon I have found that the fan vent system cannot be active unless air conditioning is switched on - which is a drag as I do not want air coditioning on when ever the fan system is activated ,. Is there any way around this please ?

If you mean the settings on the digital cockpit (the screen behind the wheel) you use the buttons on the right side of the wheel. The "View" button and the two buttons above it, "left" and "right" side buttons. Then you use the scroll wheel to the right of the buttons to make selections (up, down, select).

Also, the interior lighting individual mode does not save when you make your changes, every time you restart the car the brightness goes all the way down and you have to manually fix it again

A friend of mine has just purchased a new Seat with the 10 inch screen, he has demanded that some one from the dealer to come to his house to explain how to navigate through the system, What he does not need is 'cool' or 'awsome' controls just ones that do what he needs. Why have manufacturers made cars so complicated that even you are not sure of all the items in the menu? To help the aftersales? Its not only the Volkswagen Group, Also, none of this technology improves the skils of your average driver who these cars are made for. While driving, the concentration needed to operate all these items is taken from the primary duty of DRIVING!!!!!

Couldn't disagree more. This is a very nice tech interface and the idea is you try before you buy with cars, or at the very least watch some videos that explain. If you don't want a high tech interface, get another car! Also, this tech does improve the skills of the average driver as it can alert them to speed limits, slow them down if they get too close to another vehicle, keep them in lane on a motorway, etc. It is very useful and it isn't a coincidence that it was awarded 5 stars for safety.
