Not handmade by R Herse, but endorsed by L. Herse! It's nicer than your (or my) Riv.

NOT a real RH, just another knockoff. I'll stick with Rivendell or Waterford.

I believe Nobilette is building Rene Herse's as well as your Rivendell.

Really tired of seeing legendary marques' names get "resurrected" and exploited. Seeing so many prestigious names -- Colnago, Masi, Cinelli, et al -- whose namesakes are dead, having their names plastered on bikes that were made in factories in Taiwan, just pollutes the history of the companies and reveals their riders to be poseurs. If your bikes are so special, why not build them _under your own_ name? That's what Rene Herse did, so why don't *you* ? Because by trading on the genius of a man who is no longer here to object, you get to double the price tag. It's a distasteful scam.

I also kinda of frown upon the same thing. However, on the other hand, if same judge is applied, Shimano should not be branded shimano either...

I think in this case and with Compass/ René Herse it's sightly different. I can't speak about the frames, but in terms of Compass Jan Heine clearly had a very genuine and close friendship with René's daughter and these products were made using original patterns. Alex Singer bicycles were long made by his nephew and now great nephew, but that's a direct family link. I don't mind when these things are made in small batches and live up to the quality of the originals. But companies like Planet X have watered down several legacies of once great names, even though Planet X are far from the worst.
