This guy and Miura-Senpai are the reason I want to become a mangake, at the least a comic artist. These guys are amazing, their artwork is flawless and Miura senpai in particular are phenominal storytellers. I do admit That One Piece is good, and i definitely admit that Oda-Senpai is a genius, but these two are hiiiigggghhhhllllyyy underrated. Oda started at 17 and everyone thinks he's godly for it. Miura-senpai had his first series at 10! Through through. Hiro Mashima and Kentaro Miura are genius creators.

Fun Fact Did you know that Hiro Mashima originally planned for the series for just 10 volumes? That definitely changed due to the popularity on the series that it got so quickly and that he actually didn't want to end the manga because it gotten so popular in just a few volumes and he wanted to draw more fairytail because he said" This has gotta be my best work. I don't want to end it right now " .

His and Fairy Tail and One Piece look kinda alike because they both were assistants for Ruroni Kenshin. There was one more assistant for that manga, Hiroyuki Takei who drew Shaman King. All 4 of them ended up with a similar style as it was a long-running series.

There is no right or wrong way to start a character, its all personal preference and what you feel most comfortable with. Most people start from the face when doing speed drawings.

@LelouchPerfectWorld where is there a guy with wings on his back in one piece? and Luffy's personality is completely different from Natsu's, aside from the general similarities that almost all shonen main characters have these days, what are some specific personality traits backed up with examples that actually show Natsu's personality is even remotely based on Luffy's and not just the general feel shonen protagonists have.

It makes sense. He is the artist and author for the manga. It wouldn't be that hard doing so quickly. What I don't understand is why everyone was fighting about how some characters from his other manga look alike. Maybe he just liked how the other characters a lot so he decided to tweak them a little and change the story, background of each person, and added different names for each. Who cares!? It's his choice if he wants them to be like the other. I don't see the damn problem with that

lets be honest here. their personalities. always happy and joking around. luffys hat. natsus scarf. both have mainly something special from someone. and for gildarts. search up on google images ''gildarts shanks'' basically. the appearance is the same. and theyre both role models/ really strong for luffy and natsu.

oh and about gildarts. of course gildarts and shanks are not the same character. their abilities are entirely different and their background stories are very different (actually, we dont know all of shanks background story; just that he was a crew member on gold roger's ship) however, they both give off very similar auras and they really do look alike. i hope some ova has some kind of meeting between these two characters.

@gjfwang not at all, Odachi's One Piece, Mashima' Fairy Tail, Kishimoto's Naruto and a hell lot of others are inspired by Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball series, hence the similarities between these series, the artists themselves declared this fact, you can go and check out if you like

It's just the anime that's ending. If they continue, the anime will definitely catch up to the manga (they're already in the same arc) and run out of material to use. The manga is still ongoing. You'll probably have to wait for a while before they start airing FT again.

I tried to follow along, hoping to get a grip on how to draw Natsu, but I feel as if my attempt was fruitless. I'm amazed by how quickly Hiro Mashima drew this. Well, Natsu is his own character, after all. And of course it isn't so much of a surprise because Hiro is quite clearly talented. One day, I'll get somewhere. Nowhere near this skilled, but somewhere... xD

actually, they went to same art school and heavily inspired by the creator of Dragon Balls similar styles: 1. D Slayers - D Fruit.. D slayers cant use transportation, Devi fruit users can't swim. 2. M Council - Marines.. against the protagonists. 3. Idiot but cool char - Natsu, Luffy.(and Naruto) BTW, its amazing that some people are comparing them..its a just proof of how successful Ftail has gotten. and yea,its like comparing apple and orange,both are good in their own ways. BOTH ARE EPIC! XD
