Extreme Reloading: Measuring and Setting Bullet Jump (ep. 07)

Learn how to measure bullet jump -the distance from a seated bullet to the rifle's lands- using the Hornady OAL gauge and bullet comparator kit. We then load 4 five-shot groups at various jump distances.

Thanks Man Very interesting , I always measure to the ogive it seems to be more consistent , I use only Berger projectiles but find even with the good quality projectiles the 0AL tip to base is very often not consistent , thanks for the video Mate , Steve .

Hey Man Yes I have had a good run with Berger’s , over the yeas I tried most other brands and types of Bullets and always have come back to Berger’s , I shoot F class , I’m very fussy with case prep , and seating depth Berger’s I find like a big jump in my rifle I run 80 thou off the lands which seems the perfect node , if your having trouble try increasing jump starting at 40 thou and work up from there , Regards Steve .

@@aussiesteveakastevecallagh2280 So they like a lot of jump. I did not know that. I would like to try that in my .308. I know Berger has some secant ogive and some tangent ogive and some hybrid ogive bullets. I have the hybrid 168 gr. and would like to try it. Thanks Steve.

Try this test with Barnes TTSX. Start at the recommend COAL then 20 thou off the lands. You’ll be surprised at the results. Also ALL my Lapua pill shoot better with a light crimp. Also measure each projectile from its base to ogive and see if there’s variability. Likely there is, even in the same lot. I’m subscribed and waiting with bated breath.
