Well, we don’t know how his Luck works. Makoto’s luck talent works as a sort of give and take, like something unfortunate ends up saving him later (like the misaligned door he had or Alter Ego). Nagito’s works that when he suffers Bad Luck, Good Luck will take over later (he mentions that he’s been kidnapped in a garbage bag, but ended up finding a winning lottery ticket). I’m not sure how Yuki’s works, but I hope we soon find out.

Theory: Syobai is potentially a genius. If he was trapped in the tower, it's unlikely he could find a fake key. Therefore that was likely the real key and he intimidated Iroha to give it back to him later. Therefore he bluffed his way through Teruya's threats, and he made a significant profit off it as well. (The main hole in this theory is the lack of opportunity for Syobai to retrieve the key from Iroha, as well as running the risk that Teruya would have Iroha check if the key was real.)
