Nice to see one of the clones being used in the real world! The particular clone you have there sometimes takes a while to recover when the battery is really low due to the way the charging circuit is put together limiting the real world charge current to about 200-250ma, the later revision resolves this and will charge at the full 500ma the charge IC supports. (and I'm going to have to change the charge control IC anyway as Microchip EOL'd the part I used....) On the cable front all the cables apart form the SCSI cable can still be got, I have supplied the initial units with a crimped flat flex cable for that. Not sure how well that would scale to production though.

Max thanks for a comment. That unit is now in Miami getting a case designed for it but the battery change coming and such need to see how it will impact the design. Also, with battery moved can the keys get centered?? Yes I notice the charge took sometime and also the usb cable connected to charge seems to not power on unit guess that due to the circuit and running from battery all the time. Love the unit and they are my go to for any tests all the time on all my boards. Yes I have the flat ribbon cable and ends along with crimp tool as I make my own cables for the AppleCAT scsi terminator board that I reversed. Would love to get hold some your reloaded to do but need bom and pnp files.

@@CayMacVintage The battery charger shouldn't affect the case etc there is plenty of room on the board replace it with another part, and yeah the charge IC can't provide enough power to run the unit (I'm planning on finding a higher power charge IC anyway so hopefully that won't be a issue in the future). And yes we can move the buttons or make any other changes needed, Just drop me a email with what's needed I still need to sit down and generate those PNP files, will let you know when I have done it

SOLD! I WANT ONE!! As I develop my channel & get my old Macs up & running, it would be nice to know some low level metrics about them. Your gang is going to have a cool product!

That TechStep is really a cool unit. Will the project be producing a unit that mimics the original EXACTLY, or will it have NEW features as well??
@CayMacVintage Жыл бұрын
Will work exactly the same as original. As we mod roms, we might add some machines in the future once we can work on them.

Will, are these chips you don't like ones that were pulled from the customer's original board?
@CayMacVintage Жыл бұрын
Yes, those were the original from the battery damaged board.

How many Macs can an original TechStep diagnose? It would be nice if the NEW one could diagnose ALL SCSI Macs.
