An oratorio by Handel from an opera, one woman to another about a letter. Thank God for Wikipedia! The singer is an outstanding counter tenor! Thank you Brian for a Sunday morning chuckle.

Thank you so much for your reaction. I had a great time singing this aria (and opera) 🙂The aria Se bramate is the reaction of Serse after he gets rejected (again) by the woman he desires. She, on the other hand, is in love with Serses brother. The translation the Aira is "If you desire to love the man who scorns you, I will scorn you, but how I do not know. Your anger, cruel woman, teaches it to me, I strive to do it, and my soul cannot.'

Hi Jeff, for several months I have been watching you react to Leonid and Friends (love their music), Foxes and Fossils, and others, and I finally subscribed. I always enjoy your reactions very much. Today was the first time I had seen you react to a classical piece, and so now I would like to recommend a beautiful piece to you. It is Barber's Adagio in Strings, played by the Dover Quartet. This is a beautiful and melancholy piece that evokes emotion in the listener. The Dover Quartet does a magnificent job of playing this piece. Great audio/visual production and clarity. I would enjoy seeing your reaction to this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/onzVqYOKmrWLe7M

Hey Jeff - its the not Dave Weckl guy again. First thing: GIVE THE CONDUCTOR HIS OWN TV SHOW!! He's an absolute hoot!!! Definitely NOT my fave oratorio however...Here's a suggestion for your next "classical" piece (I HATE the term "classical" - it means nothing...). Ralph Vaughan Williams was THE quintessential "English" composer of the 20th century. He wrote a fantasia based on the folk harmonies of middle ages British composer Thomas Tallis. As this is a BBC production, the sound quality was exceptional (or obsessional being more appropriate). What sets this piece apart is that the orchestra is split into TWO separate orchestras, with one playing against the other. And it was performed in the very same church where it was debuted in 1910. This was the very first time I actually started crying when listening to a piece of "classical" music. Wonderful composition. Exceptional production: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5nbZn95e5asgLs
