I bought a PRS Custom 24-08 SE as my first guitar in a faded blue finish from Sweetwater's HQ. This is a fantastic guitar that looks amazing and can do a lot. I am happy to own this instrument and it makes me just escape the hustle of college life. I wont say that one brand beats another, because I like them all. This guitar just looked so good and sounded clean and clear to my ear. January of next year will mark the end of the first year of playing and I am so psyched to see where else I develop in this self-teaching journey. No, PRS is not holding a gun to my head to say this but this was just my initial impressions of this guitar as a virgin player. I will keep learning and practicing, have a blessed day/night!

That finish on that guitar is just spectacular...I would probably put chrome pickup covers on the pickups, and some locking tuners on it...other than that, it's good to go...after watching this video I looked it up on Guitar Center's website, but that finish is not in stock yet, but it can be ordered in advance...because of looking it up, I also saw the PRS SE Custom 24-08 that has a flamed maple veneer in the same finish...I think I like the looks of that one just as much...thanks for the video, and hope all at PRS and your families are doing well.

You know PRS are doing some amazing things with the SE line. I own a few PRs guitars but I would kill for a PRS Custom 22 or 24 with a 25.5 scale and a humbucker and single coil config. No middle pickup because it gets in the way…..though I could be tempted with a White PRS Se Studio at 25.5” scale.

In Sweetwater, the same guitar looks way brighter, and the middle looks more like a really light gray and bright red on the outside. I like the look of this one in the video a lot more… a lot… is this what they all look like in person and is the sweetwater picture just a weird camera thing?

@grantf6687 both look nice though. The 24-08 has more tone options to choose from but I notice the Cherry burst in actual photos look different from the model being used in the video. The custom 24 black gold burst has more consistent colour if that's what you want

@@grantf6687 tone is typical prs se and the humbucker could be better imo. I mostly leave the coil tap to single. Great tone especially on clean bridge pickup. For the action, I had to lower it a little bit more to my liking

At this point when my friends who are newer to guitar ask me what’s the guitar line to get under $1500 the choice is clear. PRS SE or Sire if you need something like a tele or HSS strat. God damn

I plan to get one when they become available here in the UK. My only problem is the placement of the pickup selector switch. It should have been on the upper horn. It's too far back in its current position, imo.

The tops ive seen at the store don't look this good.. If the quilt top is a big driver for you, I won't buy one without seeing it in person first.. Other than that, it's a great guitar! (I got one last week). Comes well set up from the factory and super well built

Yeah. I think they have made one for the gallery but the reallity is that they look noticeably different in practice. The quilts are not as good and even the colors are not as good as this one. Mine is one of the most decent ones I have seen apart from the "official" one. But is not as good either. I think this is kind of fool people. I am going to return it back most likely. The guitar is great, but it is not as the 10 announced. It is a 7-8.

Loved it when I bought it. Superior to an Gibson(headstock is the worst design function of any electric , the headstock breaks), but Gibson nailed dual volume and tone controls. Prs lacks that I sold my prs 24 08 and am awaiting an estimate 335 width prs with same prs2408 tone pots and volume controls. As of this writing, they are still building it. I decided to throw in Jerry Garcia electronics. John Mayer has them in his. Love prs. Body is too small for me at 6 3. I want a prs 335 semihollowbody

Looking at the top on this video, and then comparing it to the tops that you see listed online at various outlets is like looking at a photograph for a fast food hamburger advertisement, and then comparing it to what you really get after you order one at the fast food place. I would not buy one of these unless I saw a photo of the top of the actual guitar I'm getting

Not to be nit-picking, but it is coil splitting, not coil tapping. Getting a single coil sound from a humbucker is coil splitting. Coil tapping is specifically tapping into a certain length of coil in a single coil pickup. But, can't really fault anyone for saying it because the entire industry says coil tap when they mean coil split anyway. Same with how everyone started calling a vibrato a trem because of Leo Fender.

So sad that the quilted ver is not up to 'used to be' prs standards imo... peace!

ALL HYPE FOR A SUB STANDARD P.O.S. I just got one and will be immediately returning it. Very disappointed by the 1 dimensional quilt that looks NOTHING like any of the sweet promo guitars you baited us with. Feels bulky, cheap and very hard to play. YOU'VE LOST A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER FOREVER. I'm glad I didn't spend more to be so disappointed.

TOO MUCH PIECES of wood in the neck 😢😢. After 6 years a hit on the head and puffffffff - a piece glued is splitted from the head. Better buy a one piece neck and head guitar like fender player plus etc... To me it looks like PRS is saving money since a three small pieces of wood is always cheaper then a bigger single piece wood . So money is saved here 😢😢 Also any glue has " Life duration after hardening" so glueing msny pieces of wood together eventually seperates and after lets say 10 years getting a hit may create micro fractures in the glue itself . Also humidity may speed up glue degradation over time. I wouldn't trust a neck made of more the 1 piece glued together; especially when there is a truss rod involved. Sorry PRS.😢
