the rule should be no one enter the track until last car down, and then all cars continue at once.. thus to balance speed and accuracy

These expensive dirt-track layouts are fine. But this is a genuine race with equipment, and crews, and everything. There might be a way to equip electric R/C cars with turning-bars to make it easier for kids. If you took an R/C car and mounted a twelve inch wooden bar on each side, and gave the bars a 30 degree sweep, then the car would “turn” if one of the bars hits a metal stake. When the turning bar hits the stake, it would force the whole car to make a right or left hand turn. So you could put some two foot tall stakes in the grass, and tell the kids to drive their car close enough to the stake for a turn. The bars might have to be swept back as much as sixty degrees. But in any case, the track layout would be easy to set-up, and the cars would automatically turn in the right direction if the kids are good enough drivers. Or pilots with low flying F-16’s.
