Thanks for this video! Doing a similar job on my seadoo, and this has helped a great deal.

Glad it helped. Hardest part for me was understanding how the curing works and when to use or not use a surfacant. Good luck 👍

Thanks for posting this, im in the process of doing this to my 97xp. Does spectrum gel coat come with the color of your choice or did you add the color to it?

Colored. In fact they have exact model colors

Great stuff! When wet sanding down the new coat, why don't you use your rotary sander?

It's a good question ..I may for the rest. That electric orbital isn't designed for water ...but if I use pads with no holes it may be ok. Little risky

@@jonparkmac Thanks! Did not know that.

@@2-smoke so I ended up doing one pass dry sand with orbital just to knock the thick surface down a tad. Then all wet sand and cutting compound ..already shines with no wax yet

What do you do when hull has a lot of pin size (pitted) holes? The bottom of my hull has been sanded down from being beached to many times. Do I have to fill everyone of the holes before applying gelcoat?

What I would do ..sand the area as normal, wash god soap/water, blow it with compressed air, then squeegy on fiberglass resin ..like scrap off excess ..then resand that. Might even thin the resin a bit.

can you link us to the gel coat kit?

I used Spectrum and got it from iboat. But looks like they no longer sell it. Any brand will be good..hard thing for me was color match. Study up on how the curing and additives work
