Just rebuilt mine, thanks for the video. Was able to take apart old bearing and use the outer race as a press tool to press the shaft/bearing into the housing. Worked perfectly. Used deep-well 30mm & 32mm sockets to install bearing on shaft. Vice was needed to take it apart but putting together you can do without. Didn’t need any specialty tools Struggled with installing a new wear ring, tried freezing the ring and heating the pump a couple times, didn’t work so well. Ended up using the press with a plate ontop of it and it worked perfectly. Definitely put anti seize in between the impeller and the shaft, ruined my threads on my solas by not using it. little tips and tricks that might help ya out 👍👍

@@hosh710 I don’t even freeze the rings anymore. Just make sure the beveled edge is flush into the housing, put a piece of 3/4” plywood over the ring, and hit with a dead blow. Goes right in. As far as putting antiseize on the threads, are you saying I didn’t do that because I did. Also, using the OEM tools is the safest way to do these. With all that pressure, the last thing you want is some socket slipping out of place and the bearing and shaft go flying. I show people the most correct way which is the safest.

I struggled with installing the ring, that’s why I was saying it was helpful for me to use the press, nothing wrong with the method you provided I tried that many times. Same with the anti seize, installed a impeller a long time ago, I personally didn’t use antiseize, and when taking it all apart I damaged the threads on the impeller and had to use my stock one again. You mentioned anti seize I think, I was just reiterating it And obviously it’s best to use the proper tools, just saying i did it perfectly and safely without needing any, so other ppl might be able to do the same

If you install the seals first and fill the cavity under the pump bearing with grease it will force lubricate and purge the new bearing with fresh OEM grease. Notice the different color of the new bearing lube in the bearing and the seadoo pump grease. There will also be no voids for water to easily seep in. Nice job on the video and wisely packing the seals with grease.

@@SaltyDogPerformance, Lots of ways to skin a cat and it's now the way I do it now. Try it I think you will like how the grease pushes through the bearing. I do not like mixing different types of grease in a critical item known to have a high failure rate and have actually gone so far as cleaning new bearings then hand pack with seadoo lube before installation. You did it differently than I do.

Great video. You mentioned adding some 90 wt gear oil. Many folks do this because the grease just seems to collect in the cone without moving through the bearing. What are your thoughts on using gear oil and do you use any oil? If yes, how much do you add?

@@billy-bo-dilly I don’t even bother doing it. The impeller shaft will rust and the seals go out before the bearing ever burns out from inefficient lubrication.

At first i was like "nah, ill just buy a whole new pump". Then i saw theyr $600. So i will rebuild mine. What should a rebuild kit cost? I see whole kits as cheap as $40. But id rather opt for a little more reasurance of the quality

​@@SaltyDogPerformance Thank you so much for that reply. The experienced ticket writer at the dealership said RPM and Speed would drop if the wear ring was worn. I have a 2022 GTR 230. I was able to hit 8,000 RPM any time the water was smooth enough to try it; in Iowa(2022), Minnesota (2022) and Florida (Feb 2023). In May 2023 I took it in for a recall (DESS Post related) and since then I have not seen 8000 RPM, it goes to 7900 then quiclky drops to 7800RPM. I think there is a chance they flashed the computer or the DESS key post replacement caused the RPM drop.

Sounds like that jet pump has never been taken off in 4+ years. The minimum service interval for greasing the splines on the driveshaft is every 2 years or 200hrs. Whichever comes first. If you ride salt water, I recommend taking off the jet pump once a year and inspecting it and regreasing the splines.

Thanks, been serviced every year, including “remove, check and grease pump and wear ring, inspect impeller and wear ring”. Given dry/rusted condition of splines looks like they’ve never been greased in 75 hours. Thanks for the recommendation on saltwater.

Well you shouldn’t be doing work like this unless you have the right tools to begin with. This is one reason labor rates are high. The cost of tools to do it isn’t cheap. However, if you do it enough, the initial cost pays for itself

New bearings are pre greased. Old bearings you just repack them. Plenty of info out there on how to repack a bearing.

The press was $150 when I bought it plus maybe $100 for the OEM tools. After 2 jet pump rebuilds you have already saved money by not having to take it to the dealer. Especially since dealers charge $150hr for labor these days.
