I fished the outfall between Thorpeness and Aldeburgh yesterday afternoon/early evening and those waves were brutal. That NNE wind was howling hard. Caught absolutely nothing 😂

Great to hear your Dad's doing well and nice to see him out fishing again. Last time I spoke to you my dog had not long passed away and I was thinking of getting another. Anyway I now have a Border Terrier puppy 9 week old that fits in the palm of my hand. At the moment hes chewing everything he sees and that's including me. Called him Cookie as he's a right little cheeky monster. Watching a few anglers on here which are local and it seems that everyone is getting plagued by doggies and no other fish is getting a chance. Looking forward to your next session, take care buddy.

Great watch as always and good to see your dad back out with you. Chasing my first Smoothie off the beach and travelled up to fish Bacton in Norfolk on Saturday. Stunning beach, glorious weather, water was warm and good to get out. Weed was horrendous though. Caught nothing. Fished Thorpeness/Aldeburgh yesterday afternoon/evening and the wind & waves beat me. Your rod tips were barely moving by comparison with the waves yesterday. No weed, but not even crabs were touching the bait. But you've got to be out fishing to catch fish and I'll keep chasing for a smoothie.

Great video Alex and brilliant to see dad out with you again. Bugger, I was out the same time as you but chose Kilnsea over mappleton. Same conditions as you buddy, was hard work but faired a tad better than you. 3 nice codling and 3 big dogs. All caught on small scratching rod, big rod with big bait did nothing! Have a look at kilnsea, great mark for the old chap, carpark then 25 yard walk and on the beach.
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Not sure why, but I have never fancied Kilnsea Chris. Always choose Barry's when down that way and have had some good sessions from there. I took a look at the sea from Hilston, and looked rougher south than north. But that's fishing buddy, could be 50yds difference that makes or breaks a session...love it!

@The Awful Angler when I started fishing I knew nothing about the North east or north west ( Liverpool). They both are exactly the same distance for me as well as blackpool. Some body told me about skipsea and me and my brother headed in my car to skipsea. Obviously we didn't know anything about the get downs for most of these marks at North east. When I got to skipsea sort of town centre shall we say I started asking locals. A dog walking couple told me to follow a certa track behind the houses. They also said to me that it may be a bit muddy but I should be ok. There was also pond of water on this track and when I drove in the front wheels of my car got stuck in the mud. Me and brother got out literally standing in the mud and got the shovel out of the boot in order to get the mud out from under the wheels. Long story short we left the car there and walked towards the village and found a lady doing some gardening. I told her we had come from Bradford and the car has stuck in the mud. She told me to check the next door neighbour called Andrew who had a tractor. This gentleman came out in his tractor and pulled the car out. We even washed ourselves and the car in his yard. All je wanted me get him fish and chips in the end which I did. He then gave me proper instructions as to where is the get downs. We fished at skipsea afterwards and blanked and on the way back to Bradford I drove through Mapleton and the sign for seafront or beach and just follwed them just to.see what it was. Hence I was at Mapleton car park on the hill. It looked great especially at sunset and started going there frequently. However most of the time we blanked however I did catch my first codlin there. Then I began to find out other avenues and to be honest I won't go there again. It can produce a codlin or two on a big tide in winter. Nowaday I normally fish Easington withensea poo pipe runnels hilston and Tunstall and dimlington or mersey river for codlin . My best session was in last October at dimlington where I had three codlins and 11 good whitings. Me and bro also had 4 codlins at Cowden once last year too.
