Happy Christmas John, family and Chris.. I think you have the best fishing channel on KZbin, the species you catch, the tactics you use and the catch and cook / foraging gives this channel such valuable variety.. I have a young son and watching the empathy you show for your catch and your environment is something I want to pass down to him! Keep up the great work and Merry Christmas!

Happens to the best of us LOL. Some amazing catches in this video, that one ray was massive and I've noticed the same in terms of color with my own fishing, the older fish do tend to be paler on the underside, I've also wondered if that's an age thing with them.

The clunk clink of those rigs reminds me of gear going off the back of a trawler.. that's some weight but in 150 metres carrying about 2/3lb baits you need it to hold bottom. Beautiful fish are they still classed endangered?? I know they use to be common skate but I always called em "not so common skate " but I saw a program with some night divers found dozens of purses and they said it was improving they see more n more each year so atleast plenty are breeding.
@TheFishLocker9 ай бұрын
Haha. Aye and the spot we were there was a strong tide - we were on springs. They are classed as endangered on the world stage. But that’s mainly because they aren’t found anywhere else than here. Also, Blue Skate and Flapper skate were once thought to be the same. But now they are classed as different - that means there’s only half as many as they thought originally. 🤣
