Only came across your channel, enjoying the lure fishing. I used to fish matches all over Ireland back in the early 00's speed fishing we used to call it, doubles and trebbles all evening. My competitive streak is gone .But we found a place last year where porbeagle pick off our mackerel while lure fishing , this year we're going to nail one off the shore 😂👍

Canny video buddy. A few of my pals fished this match. They said it was a real struggle. Apparently all the low numbers in the zones did really well and the high numbers struggled. 1 lad had 16 fish the 2nd day and came nowhere in his zone. Have fished against the SAMF teams a few times previously, they are all good anglers. Tight lines Charlie 🎣🎣🎣
@Anglingaddict753 жыл бұрын
It was a bitter struggle, there were guys with 20 fish and came nowhere in zone. It was an eye opener though, would definitely do it again
@crabstick3333 жыл бұрын
@@Anglingaddict75 onwards and upwards. It's the way to learn by watching the better anglers. When I fished against SAMF/ GB anglers it's always been using bait packs, so when they are catching, I always made a point if they were on a peg next to me, I would go over to measure their fish and sign their cards, but look at their rig set up while doing it and any possible bait combo' s that they are using too 🤔🤔😉😉🎣🎣 it all helps, as you wouldn't see it if they are coming to you with their fish. You only need to do it a couple of times, then they can come to you 🤣🤣👍👍

Just finished the video, The east coast is fairly hard fishing very shallow and distance casting gets results. You did well. Match fishing is all about time efficiency and getting baits back in the water as soon as possible. The guys I know who are brilliant flatty match men will always be at the rod, they'll use a heavier gripper lead (even fixed wire sometimes) and every 30seconds they'll reel in a foot. The disturbance from the grip lead / fixed wire lead digs into the sand and attracts the flatties.
@Anglingaddict753 жыл бұрын
This is what I gathered from watching the rest of the guys that second day and it produced!

Well done!! I still think ‘ fishing for fun’ is more relaxing, rewarding and productive than match fishing. However, you must enjoy the stress, exercise, and anxiety match fishing causes you as you keep doing it. Great video!!! Makes me nervous just watching 🥴 Love the camera work too! The first flat fish that you caught on day 2 shouldn't of counted. If the rig cracked off and you cast out again you cannot later retrieve the lost gear and count the fish.
