Once upon a time I kept seeing sea monkeys on TikTok and was wondering what the heck they were. Then eventually I wanted some sea monkeys myself. I like the magnifying bubbles. Not all of us have fancy equipment for when we want a closer view of our sea monkeys. I agree that the shape of the newer tanks is better. I would have got it for my first tank if I was aware of it, but I was also drawn in by the glow in the dark bottom.

My son Finn is 7 years old and he loves his sea monkeys! He has 2 tanks as of right now. Him and his Mom tried to make a 2 gallon tank, but after adding in the adult SeaMonkeys from his pther tank, they all passed away and he was so upset. Ah that's super cool! Tbh I've always found it a little odd that Sea-Monkeys have been considered a "kids toy" when really it's not all that different from the rest of the aquarium hobby. Glad to hear you've got back into them :D

I've considered getting into the hobby every since I started watching your videos, and I can say that the Ocean Volcano has always been the one I said i'd get. That little bit of extra surface area makes it much easier to watch them swim around and the magnifying bubbles take up less of the overall viewing surface.

so nice to know that sea monkeys are still a thing! i had the classic ocean zoo one when I was a kid but I always wanted the castle or any of the themed ones! I remember it was really important to all my friends what colour the lid of the tank was lol. I think mine was green. but now I think the pink friendship bracelet tank is the coolest!

It's great to see your pics in the handbook John, you've officially made it! XD I do love the oceanic volcano, the bubbles don't bother me too much I just turn it around, but it would be nice if they did a version without, I'm willing to bet it would outsell the one with bubbles. My one niggle about the volcano is that due to it being flatter and wider, you end up needing to top up the water a lot more than any other tank I've tried, but that's a small price to pay when you get a slightly bigger colony with more space for the shrimp. Also, loving that purple colour and the new artwork from Tod! I don't need a new tank, but am I getting the purple one? You bet your ass I am :') Nice work as always John, your passion for all things great and small is awesome to see.

I had sea monkeys as a kid...a few times, actually. It's been years and years since I even thought of them. Then your channel popped up out of the blue. I just got one of these tanks recently, and I love it. I've modded mine myself; the 'volcano' now lights up (remote controlled!) and I put a notch in the lid for the heater cord and airline. It's a great little tank and I'm very pleased with it! Sadly my kit didn't come with the care booklet, but the instructions paper folded up to fit. I suppose that must vary by country. Oh well.

I recently learned on Wikipedia that one person was keeping Opae Ula shrimp and he used aragonite sand. This sand happened to contain sea monkey eggs. Now since opae ula shrimp live in brackish water this person was surprised that the sea monkey eggs hatched and some made it to adulthood and began to multiply. You should do an experiment to see what is the lowest possible salinity to keep sea monkeys in...

I recently got some fresh water Anostraca. I put the eggs in their tank yesterday morning. In about twelve hours they hatched. Since then I have watched them grow through the larvae stage and now they have two eyes and a lot of leaf-like legs! They have tripled in size in about one day!
