Immediately when I put the eggs into the sea monkeys tank, the water turned greenish. Is this supposed to happen?

So how big can and prolific are these creatures? I’m curious how will they do in the sewers when they’re no longer entertaining the target audience.

Can I use fish food? I was thinking of using fish food and grinding it into tiny sizes

I can’t say because I haven’t tried it. Brine shrimp can only eat tiiiiiiny particles though, so you’d have to grind it VERY finely

For those who don’t know the numb 1 and 2 packs are intentionally mislabeled. The number 1 packs is actually the eggs and the number 2 pack is a sodium bicarbonate to purify the water. The eggs take around 24 hours to fully hatch so the idea was to trick kids into thinking it was instant.

Hey man I got the volcano / pump / led on the 13th of Nov, started it straight away with room temp bottled water, added the eggs on the 14th, and am now waiting until tuesday / wednesday before (first time) feeding. Anyway - Last night, I noticed that the bottom 1-2 inches of the tank were a lot cloudier than the rest of the tank. My lazy guess is that the brine had possibly separated at the bottom, but I wouldn't even know if that's possible after only 1 or 2 days. Any ideas? Unfortunately I don't have pictures as once I noticed, I grabbed the pipette and circulated the water. On another note - Have you ever tried to modify the tanks, in regards to the air pump? I'm sure it's probably not worth the hassle, but I imagine having the volcano itself bubbling air would be pretty cool lol

To be honest, if you want to get serious about raising Sea Monkeys (brine shrimp) as pets instead of fish food, get a bigger tank than any of the official Sea Monkey tanks. 2.5 gallon rectangular tanks are readily available. That is plenty big enough to raise *many* Sea Monkeys at once, while still taking up a small footprint. I would suggest also buying a lid to help control evaporation, a small, perhaps 25 watt, tank heater, a plant grow light to promote algae growth, and a small aquarium air pump with an airstone. It might even be advantageous to connect the air pump to a small sponge filter, as long as the baby Sea Monkeys don't become trapped in the filter. I would stay away from USB powered devices with this setup and stick to devices that are directly powered from your wall outlet. I may actually set something like this up myself.
