There is more to that statement then you may know, the Black Pearl was a slave ship known as the Wicked Wench, reason Jack is labeled a pirate is because he refused to deliver the slaves as ordered, saying to Beckett, "people aren't cargo, mate" the Wicked Wench was burnt and sunk, Jack then struck that deal with Davey and we now have the Pearl

And I really wouldn’t count out them adding a new ship type in game , seeing as they have the facilities , model + accessories, the demand for it is there and seeing as they already added probably the second most requested thing (second to a bigger ship) it would make sense that their next step would be a bigger ship , because if their 2020 updates are anything to go by then the game will be truly dead pretty soon, they don’t really have much to lose

I think they could just add the base version of the pearl, which is the new ghost ships, then we could get advanced ship accessories and possible ship customizations, being able to make it look like the dutchman or the pearl or any other custom design

Fingers crossed they’ll add the ship type soon. All signs point towards it , usable steering wheel (even though you don’t sail the black Pearl) ,usable cannons (8 on each side for 8 players) , the capstan has 8 spaces (and spaces on the capstan show the max number of players in a crew for each ship type), you can turn of the lanterns and ring the bells , there’s an unusable pulley for the diagonal rear sail . And especially the fact that the only ship models that you’ve been able to walk on are ship models that are in game . It all just points towards them adding it

The backlash they’d receive if they added the most requested thing in the game that so many people have been wanting for over. 3 year , after dangling it in our faces in this tale tale …. Then it’s only an arena ship. The ships in this game aren’t balanced anyway, sloops are constantly getting destroyed by brigs and galleons and whenever I’m on a galleon or a brig we go for sloops because they’re easy picking most of the time . The thing is each ship has their own advantages and disadvantages and that’s the meta of the game , people thought the same when they added the brig as a new ship, but it’s now become part of the meta and sloop players have adjusted

Please just make this a new 5 or 6 player ship! And if thats not possible just make it a 4 player alternative for the galleon! Like a different skin but still "the same ship." they could do the same with a junk for the brigantine. And if all that is "too hard to implement" or "not working with the server" please just add the front and back sail to the galleon and brigantine. it would make them look so much better and more realistic!

I know it would be hard to balance but when you look at this ship next to a galleon it's really not that much bigger especially when you put the same looking black pearl figurehead on your galleon for those side lattices. It's really just got a taller back, a platform on each sail, and a 5th cannon with only a slight heigh increase.

Part of me want Rare to add a bigger ship type so we can have an actual Black Pearl or Dutchman like in the movies. But i know for sure that doing so will also require more players on 1 ship to operate, would need atleast 7-8 players to operate a ship like this. Im a solo player and that's already locked me out of the Brig and Galleon even though i really love those two. I think they really should allow simplified ship controls if a player is running solo first before adding any new ship type so everyone can experience everything in the game.

Honestly I wish the ships in SOT were more realistic. The sloop is just... really weird and unrealistic, the masts and sail setup on the Brigantine is very odd and not the setup Brigantines had, and the Galleon has slightly odd sail setup as well.

I hate how much of a perfectionist I can be with this ship. I see 2 things wrong with the ships look it’s like an itch I can’t scratch. The capstan is supposed to be connected to the middle mast. And the front most stairs below deck has a decorative rail around it. That and the lower deck isn’t fully correct but eh that’s hard to see.

Me too and by the way, if you want to know a little bit of sail types then here you go: There are many different “triangular” sails. There are “headsails” (in this case jibsails) there are “staysails”, and there are also “lateen sails” Headsails are the “triangular” sails that are in-front of the mast at the front (known as the foremast). There are two types of headsails, “jibs” and “genoas”. I’m not gonna provide the distinction between them but you can search it up if you wish. The Black Pearl or any other ship from the time period would have had jibsails. Staysails are triangular sails identical to headsails, but a little different. Staysails are always behind (or whats called aft) the frontmast (foremast). Now sometimes one of the headsails are called staysails. My theory is that if the “tack” part of the headsail (the tack is at the bottom of the front piece of the sail) reaches the deck and not the bowsprit, it’s a staysail. Again this is just a theory not a fact. East Indiaman galleons, like the Black Pearl, tend to only have a “lateen spanker”. A spanker is the sail that is behind (or aft as its called) the backmast (which is called the mizzenmast). Spanker come in different variants. The two most normal in the time period were lateen spankers and gaff spankers. The Black Pearl has a lateen spanker.
