"pirates were tropical" what about all the piracy that took place during the anglo-dutch war, and the numerous attempts at discovering a north-west passage during the golden age of sail. Most of the ships that went looking for it were famous pirates, example Sir Francis Drake. I'm not campaigning for an ice region, it just really gets at me when people try to make the the claim that piracy only happened in the tropics. There is a long and storied history of piracy all across the globe in practically any environment that has navigable waters.

In my personal experience the first set a new pirate wears can tell something about how invested/knowledgable the person is right from the start, kracken lord, crab lord and reaper pyjamas feel like the lesser knowledgable as the only thing you really need for getting them is gold, for me the ashen dragon was my first set since at that point i understood enought to know that getting the set actually reguired something special, those being the commendations which may be somewhat easy but its still a mark of getting something more than just money, when someone goes for ashen dragon first you know they are not so clueless that they would not have figured out what commendations even are

The Fates of Fortune Set paired with some of the Legendary set cosmetics (especially the hat) is my current favorite outfit, it looks quite nice i think. I rock the sunken curse on it too, just adds some matched coloring, I can recommend it :)

As a certified Fates of Fortune outfit enjoyer (more than the ship set even), I will say the lack of a jacket definitely isnt the worst thing in the world since a good few other jackets work with the entire set (minus the gloves) insanely well. The Pirate Lord jacket is a good, cheap go to that mixes well with the black, the Heroic Helm jacket works with it beautifully, but my absolute favorite is the Dark Adventurer jacket over the rest for the look I affectionately call Edgy Brigsy. Also the dress is such a fantastic piece bc of its, to my knowledge, unique interaction with jackets where the sleeves are visible. The FoF dress with the heroic helm jacket is such a beautifully simple Admiral look

fates of fortune hat is a scorpion, not a claw. another stereotype is, "the people who have no historical knowledge of pirates and only think pirating is killing every crew they come across & sinking the ship.". seriously, there is more to the game than that, alliances do have their benefits, and no one attacks a fleet of players, unless they are ballsy or dumb. alliances allow for more loot, transferring loot between ships gives everyone commendation & alliance progression is multiplied by the number of ships, and you can complete the entire set of listed quests faster with more people. also it's more fun when you actually add real pirate code, diplomacy, and tactics into the game.

Dark Warsmith is partially correct. Got it because I didn’t want to suffer against solo sloopers as I’ll never be that good. Plus after seeing a lot of the cosmetics that were released for Hourglass. I was disappointed that there weren’t that many. Ghost curse is based off of what ever you’re wearing. Skeleton cursed you’re locked to a couple things and that’s it

I wore the legendary outfit for a time just because purple and gold are my favorite color combination. These days I wear the sovereign hat (the conquistator style one with the yellow feather), gold hoarder gloves for the rings and the famous adventurer dress that came with this season.

I think a lot of old swabbies have returned to the game with the set but they usually arent good for a while. Only ferryman is a little different because they had to like the game enough to buy a themed controller for it. and blue hat will sink you before you even notice theyr wearing it

Stereotype of the Ancient Costume might be skewed but funny non the less if anything they are still trying to get 100 in Vail quests to get the "Sword" macuahuitl because it fits the Aztec look. If anything do a stereotype on the Soulflame Costume, I earned mine during the Festival of the Damned event, and that lead to ether jolly cooperation of a all out TDM. I rock the Soulflame costume and I can safely say, i love Kegs that make ships disappear. Lol.

I use the order is souled dress with the ceremonial admiral boots and the kraken gloves because i believe it was the first cosmetic I ever bought and just never took it off (except for when I got my order of souls distinction so I can see the rings). I forgot what hair dye I use but it looks purple and matches dress. Sometimes I’ll put on a random curse depending on what I’m doing today or what I feel like wearing Yeah I’m not the best at combat (definitely not due to old gen Xbox with Nintendo switch charger to keep my controller alive but won’t stay in the wall) however I’m really good at naval getting recruited by plenty of crews with curses despite me barely even getting to halfway to either curse
