the funny thing about this is that it wasnt actually my ship lol we had allianced with a solo sloop, dropped off the person to do a shrine and then drove over to the tornado in their ship only for it to be flung all the way to the other side of the entire map

The closest I know of is Guns of Icarus. My friends and I used to play a bit of it. It's got similar mechanics to SoT, a crew manning a (airborne) ship, managing repairs, guns, piloting, etc. Unfortunately it doesn't have the open world aspect, and is meant more of a dueling game. Which is why imo SoT is a much better implementation of the whole "crewed ship management" aspect of a game. But hey, if you're really wanting SoT but steampunk airships instead, it's worth a look.

This is a pretty awesome perspective of the games map. I always knew it was big, but never could get a grasp of the scale from the map on the ship. But seeing one end from the other, it’s impressive how huge it is.

The only thing I saw that was close to this was a connection issue glitch which caused the boat on affected friend's screen aim for the skies and have a new horizon until YOU HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED message ended the dream, the servers are just so darn suateed even people high every 420 question the amount of cloud the servers are partaking in. Really neat to see some stuff, such as clouds and not just fort marker clouds being placed three dimensionally in the sky - one would think the game has elaborate skybox to draw them or something - The storm cloud looks weird from upper perspective probably meaning it gets weird forced perspective in sea level observation - It is kinda cool to see the Fort skull above and it is sad we would not have had chance to see other such clouds from upper perspective but I am nearly shocked by the 3D nature of the skull given how great and flat the clouds look - The cloud game is next level on sea of thieves even if it is not the type to get you high, usually.
