Which is why we should go for green hydrogen and metanol instead, to power cars, ships and planes..

While I agree with green methane for ships and planes in the future it's just so inefficient a process to make, its better to use battery vehicles for consumer vehicles.

isn't there frozen methane deposits on the **sea floor? releasing those would put us over the top... like by A Lot!

not here, its only 4000m down - it's more permafrost melting in areas like in Russia. Its areas of ice that have stayed frozen for 100's of thousands of years now releasing methane! - also leaking disused gas wells is a major problem as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2XOdWx8jr2fjc0

@@markreed9853 , right, i have heard about those problems, i think some group is making good money capping wells or they have a fund or something, i heard something about it in some podcast, i don't remember, like literally thousands of wells, no? the permafrost seems most worrying since it sets off a positive feedback loop no? maybe we should be thankful that the war in Ukraine is pushing Europe to ween themselves off of Russian gas, eh,

@@elgracko No, nobody is making money from capping wells, they are making profit from buying loads of old wells for the gas and only capping a few. This video shows how it is. There is also a non-profit who ARE capping wells, one was on the Now You Know KZbin channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJSQiHadZ75qqac

@@elgracko Yes, coming from the UK we are trying to reduce our need for Gas BUT we have a major problem as most of our heating and hotwater comes by using gas (even me) - there are plans for us to install lots of ASHP's but its going to take a long time and cost £B's - Dale Vince, from Ecotricity. is proposing we use GREEN gas from grass - tests are being done now!

@@markreed9853 , pretty much the same deal here in Ecuador, i have a gas stove but an electric showerhead, but most in the middle class prefer gas water heaters, but, you know, we're net petroleum exporters, even though we have to Import the gas, And it's subsidized, we'll probably be the last to get off the gas pipe, so to speak, it's different in these respects, one'd figure solar's power during the day could electrolize water to get hydrogen and burn that, no? it's not that simple i figure there are protest here now, partly caused by IMF imposed austerity measures in exchange for a 4 B Usd loan, you guys have experience with that too? ,

Anytimes you have a pich were natural reasources are needed and you are a poor nation who has them you must take the oppertunity to be open for the world to get access 2 your minerals - WITH YOUR OWN COMPANIES AND THE LATEST TECH IN MINING OPERATION and IN CLEAN TECHNOLOGIES. The wolrd in mnay of these cases will not be able to say no and if these countreis are taken over by outside compmaies their governemnts are horrible negotations or aren't negotaing at all.

Hello? Have you made any research at all? What about the existing vehicles? do you know how much metal there is in them? Cobalt? Do you know that the main manufacturers of batteries are moving away from cobalt? Some research please, you seem outdated. The existing mining may be sufficient for the demand and needs for the transportation sector and renewables sector as well. Moreover, the recycling manufacturing sector is expanding, improving, and creating more jobs every year. The materials used in the construction of EVs will be soon 80% resourced from recycling materials.

The people complaining about deep sea mining are the same ones that drive Teslas and have phones which require these metals. If you are opposed to this, then don't use a battery EVER!

...the problem is if we do NOTHING then these undersea habitats will be at risk anyway. I also can see how one tiny area of the sea floor of the planet would have a major effect on sea life as a whole!

There's no mining here. They are just simply picking up rocks from the bottom of the ocean.
