The Battle of Tinian from 24 July - 1 August 1944 is considered by many to have been the best executed amphibious operation of World War II. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of my Seabee dad. No luck. He did a lot of surveying for the runways and did the surveying for the atomic bomb pits.

Even as I type this, the US is rehabbing the abandoned air strip on Tinian...what was once old, shall be new again.

It's footage taken by the Seabees in the field. Probably one of the officers or Chief's with a home film recorder. Like watching your grandparents home films.
