Awesome video Tim, I got to park my Semi for a 4 day Thanksgiving weekend and now I'm caught up on your videos, your new layout has come a long way since the final video of the old layout was done, very nice work!!!

Tim, all I can say is "sweet". I loved the different SC paint schemes on the 4 power units. Your hard work has paid off in dividends. The helix is really nice, had thought about that for my layout, but since I model in S and the room is 14 x 11. The layout is a perimeter set up, and operates on 2 levels (widest level is 36"), it's not doable. Keep up the excellent work, and Happy Thanksgiving.

I agree #150 will look great at the ADM plant. It’s amazing to see the entire roster grow since moving to the new layout. All part of getting larger, obviously.

Thanks! I have been switching with the SW1500 there and it is hands down better for the job. Like it was designed specifically for this purpose. For now the S2 is sidelined but occasionally I may bring it out while the SW is down for maintenance.

Good morning sir. at first I thought it was going to be a light engine run to AMD but was surprised and enjoyed the additional tonnage added to make the run. I guess like the prototype they're not going to waste man hours just to drop off an engine. As always thanks for sharing your progress and a HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and your family. 👍👍

Pretty good power to pull that much tonnage up the helix, must be 20 to 30 cars. Happy Thanksgiving Tim.

I will do a video on SC tonnage ratings in December. Stay tuned. Happy Thanksgiving!

@@SeaboardCentral That would be interesting. I always wondered what an engine can pull.

I think that your SW1500 numbered 150 will have a productive life as the ADM switcher. Great video and wishing you a happy Thanksgiving 🦃.

Thanks! It is turning out to be perfect for it. Runs a lot better than the S2. Nothing against it but the S2 has seen better days. It is not what it was when it was new.

Thanks Tim. Is #150 modelled for R/C, I notice Antenna and Hazard Lights. This would be good for ADM as well as (possibly?) not having to be responsible for Maintenance and Repair - other than routine.
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
Yes it is and that is a great reason for it to be leased to ADM. And yes you are right, ADM doesn’t have to maintain it other than keep to keep it fueled.

In the prototype, would 150 be running deadhead, engine off and just rolling, have the engine just idling and being pulled or be linked in as part of the loco consist? I'll expect a video on its ADM operations some day. Especially to see how much the engineer rides vs walking the moves. How many trains a day will run from Gadsden to Ragland and back in your ops sessions? Great stuff.
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
Thanks! It really depends on the tonnage and if it would be needed. Most of the time it would just be towed as a dead unit. I’ve got a few videos on switching ADM on the channel but I’ll definitely do more with the SW1500. Only one local is scheduled per day to work the industries in Ragland. The only other train is T85 which is the transfer run. I showed both trains running in the Inaugural Run video.
@ikonseesmrno7300Ай бұрын
That 1500 sounds nice! I take it, ADM needed more pulling capacity?
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
Thanks! The S2 was having mechanical issues so they leased the SW1500. At least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😁
@macseymour2575Ай бұрын
Kinda disappointed, having run 539 Alcos early in my career. However, you are following true to real life reflecting the modeled era.
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
I’ll occasionally run the S2 but for now it is stored on the end of the DDG track by the mill. The SW1500 is really working out great. Being a newer engine it doesn’t have the problems the S2 does.
@TheLEMRRАй бұрын
Did the Alco drop a cylinder? lol
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
Something like that. More electrical issues. For now it is stored at the end of the DDG track.
@AdamdajАй бұрын
Wonder what AAR channels the train crews would be using if Seaboard Central was an actual Railroad. I know some short lines use DMR when most class one railroads are using IDAS/NXD for voice radio communications.
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
Good question. I can’t remember when we switched over to narrow band but I would guess that the SC would have a road channel at least. I’ve got them down for two channels where one can also be used as a yard channel.
@AdamdajАй бұрын
@@SeaboardCentral Oh, I know the Railroad Industry has gone Narrow Band. Up Here is Southeastern Pennsylvania, our regional rail system SEPTA use repeaters, which the majority of Class 1 and other short lines use simplex. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

What’s your plans for “Old Rusty”? Will it be going to the company shops for refurbishment?
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
Right now it is stored at the end of the DDG track. I’ll talk about it in the December update this coming Sunday.
@thisoldgoat3927Ай бұрын
Uh-oh, will the Alco be turned into razor blades?
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
For now the ALCO is sidelined at the end of the DDG track. From time to time it will be used while the SW1500 is getting maintenance done but for now the 150 is the head honcho. :)
@boylesterminalshops6841Ай бұрын
What “problems” does the model S2 have other than being antique like the real ones?
@SeaboardCentralАй бұрын
It was from a time of code 100 pre-DCC. You can hear the deep flanges hitting the spikes on that code 70 ME track. Sometimes it just looses contact and stalls. The SW1500 is one of Athearn’s latest releases and works the plant like a champ. Much more reliable and enjoyable.
