So Delicious. Thank you for your recipe. Here in the Missouri Ozarks, we don't grow Lobster, scallops, shrimp or crab. We do have bass, blue gill, crappie, perch, carp and frog legs, etc, and can get the shell fish at the grocery store, frozen. 🤣My mother-in-law, a Florida and California girl, taught me how to make clam chowder for her son. What a beautiful cook she was. A chef in every sense. You have brought back to my mid 70's wonderful memories. I enjoy your channel so very much, no matter what you are cooking or baking. Any recipe I have made of yours is fantastic! My dad used to make pear preserves, easy recipe, fresh lemon juice, a few thinly sliced lemon rounds, sugar and water and the pears. Problem is, I have no idea of how much of what goes in the pot. Same with tomato preserves. He made them as he made them better than my sweet momma did! If you could make a recipe of the preserves, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you greatly Bonita for your recipes. I so enjoy your channel!♥️👍♥️

Bonita. Thanks for this chowder...a question. Would it be ok to chop the celery. And leave it there ?? Wonder why u threw it away ........and do all. The mixing make the fish disappear like instead of chunks ?,....thanks
@bonitaskitchen6 жыл бұрын
Hi Loretta: I just seen your message I'm sorry for not responding, thank you for your question. You can leave the celery there if you like and also leave the fish in chucks, I just use the celery in this recipe to infuse the flavours and then mixing didn't make the fish disappear. I just wanted to have equal cooking time by stirring all the ingredients together. I hope this answers your question and sorry once again for not seeing your message. Bonita

Hey Bonita. Me again. I used this recipe tonight and it was great. I will note however, that I found the 2 cups of hot water in step #3 wasn't enough. Hi Bonita, thank God I finally found you. how many times has my husband said, that’s not how mom used to make it! I love the old traditional Newfoundland recipies and simple way you demonstrate them. I love Seafood chowder, always order it in a restaurant but have never made it myself. I have a few questions before I try this. Do it have to be carnation milk? I’m not a big fan of milk, but I can tolerate fresh milk, but if they use carnation milk in the restaurants, I will use it, as I always have it in my cupboard. So that’s the first question. Also, once you add the milk, do you let it boil, or just simmer? And last, I have cod, shrimp, scallops, but was wondering if I could use that fake lobster flavoured crab as my fourth? TIA.
@bonitaskitchen3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cynthia, thank you for your lovely message and for stopping by, I'm so glad you enjoyed our recipe for seafood chowder. This recipe was published in the East Coast Living Magazine in 2018 for the comfort food at its best. I like using carnation whole milk in a lot of my recipes, because of its creamy texture and old school taste. But if you wish you can use a whole milk or 2%, NEVER boil the milk only simmer and at the very end. Then when rewarming the chowder do the same, in a small saucepan and only on simmer. You don't want to curl the milk or cream, using any type of seafood that your family enjoys will work great. I'm not sure what type of milk or cream restaurants use of course it all depends on the Chef that makes the chowder. We also got a tomato soup base chowder kzbin.info/www/bejne/epzUZax3npV2hc0 and please visit www.bonitaskitchen.com for over 300+ recipes you can make and enjoy. :) Stay safe Bonita
