i was adopted but reminded of it all the time... not in a good way... my adoptive mom died when i was five from cancer... my dad remarried... my step mom was hateful... folks would say .. she looks like her daddy... she would say... she is adoptive... all the time... it hurt me so bad.... if anyone says she looks like you just smile and say yes she does... or when you are introducing her to someone say... she looks like me doesn't she.... that will make her feel special and that she belongs.....
