It sure does! Just format it as "Mac OS Extended" or "APFS" before you use it so it's ready fro Macs

Which is best external drive wd my passport 5tb vs Seagate 5tb
@tech.reviews2 жыл бұрын
They are fairly similar having tested both. I would recommend either of these two over the basic models as these ones tend to last longer and have less chance of failing. The Seagate slightly quicker but that's about it

I see one in store near by and it comes with a carrying case and online on Amazon doesn't come with a case even though it's the same. What is the purpose of having or getting a case for a external HHD?
@tech.reviews3 жыл бұрын
None haha. If it falls, the damage will still be done with or without a case. Case is just for scratches/dust etc. I guess, but not absolutely necessary

Can this drive be password protected? Just like one touch?
@tech.reviews2 жыл бұрын
You can use third party software to put a password on it. There is "Seagate Secure" but I don't believe it's used for this model. Hope this helps!

What's difference between Seagate 5tb drive basic, backup plus and one touch?
@tech.reviews3 жыл бұрын
There is no "basic", unless you mean the Expansion which is the entry level. The Backup Plus and One Touch are almost identical, just different designs. They are all 5400rpm with 140MB/s read/write. More so just a preference of design. The Expansion is a bit slower at around 120MB/s write and 130MB/s read.

Brilliant! I use it often and found it to be quick, responsive and so far reliable. Just don't keep it plugged in 24/7, I found this shortens any HDD's life.

Just plug it in with the USB cable. It doesn't need to be installed. Format for Mac or PC (or both) depending on your needs.

can connect to TV? ty
@tech.reviews4 жыл бұрын
Yes of course, depending on the formatting as well. If none of your videos exceed 4GB in file size, you should be using FAT32 as this is the most compatible filesystem and works on all Smart TVs. However, if any of your video files are over 4 GB, you will need to use either exFAT or NTFS. Determining which of those two options will depend on the device it will be viewed on. Both Windows and Mac can read from NTFS and exFAT. However, Smart TVs will often support one or the other. Sony TV's typically support FAT32 and exFAT, while Samsung and other brands typically support FAT32 and NTFS. Some TV's may even support all three file systems.

@@tech.reviews hi. I just bought seagate 2tb back up plus. Im wondering why my smart tv cant read the back up until I read this comment. I tried to changed the file system from exfat to NFTS and now the same can be read on smart tv. Can I ask which file system is better with respect to overall performance of external drive? Enlighten me. Thanks.
@tech.reviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. So NTFS is the more modern file system that Windows uses by default. It works with all windows systems, but it's read-only on Mac/some Linux systems. There are no file size or partition limits. ExFat is the lightweight version, most usb's have this by default because it can read and write on all windows and modern Mac systems. No file limits either. So they are generally the same, just ExFat is more compatible with more systems than NTFS.

Can use this for my gaming pc ?
@LeejieLextar4 жыл бұрын
Yes. But this is more for consumers who need to store large amount of data. For gaming, the best hard drive to store games on is on SSD. But it is much more expensive. But the games runs much more smoothly. Loads faster. But if you want better graphics and smoother frame rate, then upgrading to a better GPU is the way to go.
@GugureSux4 жыл бұрын
You can use it on any PC, but I wouldn't be installing games on external discs. Not only does the USB connection cause bottlenecks, but these external devices tend to be mere 5400rpm drives, meaning extra slow loading times. For daily gaming use, I'd recommend grabbing a large, internal HDD with 7200rpm speed. They're cheap and plentiful, and you can find up to some 12+ Terabytes these days.
@funnyway6834 жыл бұрын
@@GugureSux I think so ye I'll grave a 7200 rpm hdd , thanks for advice :)
@tech.reviews4 жыл бұрын
Yep spot on thanks all! SSDs are best in every way shape and form except for storage size - if you need large amounts of storage with files just sitting there, go for the HDD. Otherwise, if you can afford an SSD, much recommended!
@tech.reviews4 жыл бұрын
They are also generally way more reliable as there are no spinning discs/moving parts. But like Teemuslayer mentioned, if you are going to go for an HDD, go for an 7200rpm. You could get an SSD for boot/main applications, and a 7200rpm for much larger applications - this is an affordable solution!

Hi, please question I have the 5tb .. but when i plug it shows that the memory is 4.54 TB .. it's 460gb less .. why ? It's too much it's near half TB Is it actually 4.54 TB or there is a way to bring the 460gb or at least 200-400gb

I do believe that the 460gb is taken for drive format info, as with all drives you lose some space versus what is advertised.
