Here's the responses from Newegg and Seagate about the warranty. I had to contact Newegg 3 times to get a response and then I contacted Seagate to confirm it: " The warranty validity is determined by the date of purchase, so make sure you keep your original receipt ". I'm not totally convinced by this because otherwise why would Seagate provide Warranty information with the S/N? But I'm keeping the drive because I trust Newegg will respect the warranty if something goes bad with the drive.

Thanks for the video. Maybe this is a silly question, but is there anything like an external RAM module, that could boost a computer's RAM?

Not that I know of

@@KnowledgeSharingTech Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, computers with 8 GB of RAM cost a lot more than 4 GB RAM conmputers.

How does it sound on spin up? Does your drive make loud clicking noise shortly after plugging into USB or it's just mine?
@KnowledgeSharingTech2 ай бұрын
It makes clicking noise, but not loud, I say it is the same as other Hard Drives

I purchased the 14TB from Costco, have not opened it yet as I been seeing information that they are not reliable and some people are losing data after just a couple of years, that scares me, thoughts on this? Thanks

Mine is doing 3-4MBS, how do you reach over 100MBS speed?
@KnowledgeSharingTech4 күн бұрын
@@aska221 Make sure you are connecting it to 3.0 USB port. These are usually blue in color

@@KnowledgeSharingTech Thank you for such a quick response! I am currently transferring a lot of individual files, if I click to cancel the transfer, will I run a risk of losing/corrupting data? I used cut+paste, from my M.2 SSD to a Seagate Expansion Desk SCSI. The disk has seen heavy use before I got it, not sure how much that affects the speeds. I am currently using a SS USB, which I believe is 3.0.

If the drive is plugged in to a electrically powered USB hub with it's own power adaptor, is the power adapter still required for the drive to work? Thank you.

The drive sucks, keeps on going to sleep too often, the software that should allow you to change the sleep time is mentioned on Seagate's support page but no download link for it exists...

You can simply use Blackmagic Speed test app to test your storage speed

Thank you for the suggestion but I prefer to keep the tests as close to real life usage as possible.

Updated for 6/2024 I bought 20 TB expansion just like this: I move from 256 GB micro SD card using thunder bolt 4 to this 20 TB seagate: the avg real life speed still at 120 -130 MB/ s which is a bit sad. (too slow for my work flow in 2024). Cause I hope it would be 250 MB + but in reality is 50% less.

@@KnowledgeSharingTech Sure no problem :) I just finished moving the file: To sum -> 250 GB from micro SC card (sandsik extreme) to this seagate 20 TB hub would take 30-40 mins.
