Commented on your Spitfire video, and am in awe of your build skills after watching this one too. You're a god among mortals! Peace from the UK :)

Where did you get the tail wheel from? - that's not the seagull one right?
@BalsaAeroProjects5 ай бұрын
No, it's not the Seagull supplied tail gear. It is a scratch built, sprung tail gear. It's shown in the first few minutes of the Seagull extreme makeover video located here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnOmlpt7rZ2gh68 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnOmlpt7rZ2gh68

Too bad the arf makers aren't more committed to accurate scale dimensions. A Keen Eye can see the differences. A very noticeable trend is they are lengthening the nose for balance purposes on the zero and the P26 peashooter, piper cubs, etc. and P40's often have the rear of fuse almost same length as nose. Seems that fuselages are often oversized on some arfs not matching wingspan. Criticism may be the only thing that will make them improve. When they design the ARF why not make it right. Proportions matter in food servings, girl's figures, and model airplanes

I can only surmise that the manufactures think that most rc'ers don't care much about scale fidelity. But, do care about adding dead lead. I know it's tough with most warbirds to avoid the dead lead but I won't sacrifice scale fidelity fot it. That's the one nice thing about EP is that it is easier to get the motor battery right up against the motor which solves the balancing problem. I got a laugh from your last sentence.

the smaller 1100mm DURAFLY is a good trainer as i exhibits the same poor ground handling and a gyro definitely helps it out in crosswinds and dragging a wing tiip on a pave surface, bouncing around on grass is more forgiving with a 109 .i only have a paved surface to deal with , motion rc has some gyro receivers i will be trying ,
@BalsaAeroProjects Жыл бұрын
Yes, the Durafly has been mentioned in a previous comment. Both of my 109's now have gyros. However, neither has been flown since completed/repaired due to problems with flying fields and weather.

I have the seagull 109 and looking at the scale E plans I determined the wing span should be closer to 70”. I added a bit to each tip to obtain that number. In my opinion, the plane looks and flies a lot better, especially at slow speeds when landing.
@BalsaAeroProjects Жыл бұрын
70" works. You took the simple route. Haha!

@@BalsaAeroProjects For sure. I was just looking for a simple way to make the outline look a little more scale. I don’t have your skills. Yours looks great.

I think I should have said that you took the smarter route. Thanks.

Cool, the 109 with yellow nose is major Wick, high ace untill John Dundas shot him down over the Isle of white english channel.

Yes. I modeled his last aircraft that he was in when shot down.

So what you appear to be saying is Brian Taylor's aircraft is so much better!

Yes. It's hard to beat a Brian Taylor.

Thank you. Is he still modeling?
@bulltraderpt Жыл бұрын
As best as he can from airfix kits, because he unfortunately has advanced AMD. There are at least three models he never flew in the workshop gathering dust.@@BalsaAeroProjects
