You did a great job with the dead stick. Perfect! Super unlucky with how the exhaust caught but considering the circumstances I’d take that every day of the week! I hope you managed to get it fixed.. great flying!

I'm not saying that the CG was correct but when you finished your turn sounded like throttle was back and she was dropping not climbing which is what wouldn't happen with the tail heavy plane. It looked like the elevator was sensitive or too much elevator was being used rather than throttle that plane was sinking after you cut back on throttle not climbing until she dropped too much. After the aborted Landing and losing airspeed initiating a sharp turn is the kiss of death. You had a long runway in front get some airspeed. Great idea pulling up the gear to deal with the situation.

i have got the same plane. Really tricky landings too. Weak retracts support. mines felt off first smooth landing. im tuning now the flap-elevator mix and thotrle curve. hope it will survive the tuning chapter.

marco jaric Hi Marco, I totally agree! I’m thinking about ordering some heavy duty electric retracts from HK. Have you looked at the rcgroups thread on this? Good luck with yours!

Excellent decision to leave the gear up. Much less chance of damaging anything. Just bad luck you happened to hit the edge of the petromat.

Very nice flying. Calm. Good wheels up approach if it just had not caught something.

Jerry Mccrae thanks for the comment, I know, I would have totally lucked out if the exhaust had not caught. I’m looking forward to getting her back in the air after the repairs and needed mods😊

@@alvincctrn well im REALLY glad it wasn't a total wreck at their $. I dont fly but i build a ton of ww2 aircraft models! Ill be looking forward to her return to the air! Thanks for writing back and again really nice flying especially the landing! Happy Holidays!

Yeah, it’s a pretty bad feeling when your plane leaves the ground and you suddenly notice it’s really tail-heavy. Been there. An exhilarating flight turns into a struggle to get it back on the ground without splattering it. Nice save, though!

Perhaps if you had had the landing gear down the outcome may have been different? love the model though.
@alvincctrn5 жыл бұрын
Graham Hall yup I hear ya. I was actually worried about ripping out that landing gear if I had come in wonky on the short approach. The stock gear is a weak point. Catching the exhaust was def some bad luck!! 🙄 I’m looking at getting some heavy duty gear for her. The firewall is already fixed as of this writing!! To be honest I never paid much attention to Hurricanes until I got this one. I really like the look of them!!

flycatchful I hear ya, but sometimes you have to follow rule #1......fly the airplane. 😬
@yavuzsutcu93195 жыл бұрын
On the short final, I observe a touch of initial flare, a very good one imho then let her sink a little, but at the same time adding throttle the airplane climbs away which already have a good speed... Being tail heavy, it is easy to tell if you measure on one third from the leading edge... The flight seemed wonderful, without any hint of always climbing tendency. One last word of caution, never accept banked wings on touch down!

Duel rates maybe?
@alvincctrn5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply and good idea. I actually had triple rates with several expo rates programmed in. It really helped keep it smooth during the flight. Just wasn't enough when she slowed down with the cg being off.

Never trust the CG location recommended by the Chinese manufacture. I know from experience so do your own math.

flycatchful IKR, it’s such a common problem I’m not sure why manufacturers aren’t dinged for that?

Only one problem with that theory, they are not Chinese made.

@@johnnichol9412 They are made in Vietnam my mistake. Still do the math on the CG range.

@@flycatchful To me that didn't look tail heavy in normal flight, close passes were smooth as did the rest of the flight appear, or at least until he grabbed a handful on the threshold. Three times a poor approach and panic. If I thought a plane was tail heavy I wouldn't spend 5 minutes flying around, I would be looking to land.

geo land IKR!! I jut fixed the broken firewall and I’m adding more nose weight. It should reduce the elevator sensitivity.
