Rcg 20cc engine sounds very poor, will be looking for something a bit better soon.

Very smart looking plane, great flying too. Cheers

Thanks for the upload. I have yet to put my Decca together, too many in the queue ahead of it. Have yet to choose the power plant. I have a few 26cc 160twins laying about and was going to put one in it, but didn't want the heads sticking outside the cowl. The RCGF 20cc fits nicely inside, and with the pitts muffler from a dle20, would sound s lot better. Luckily I have 2 cowls, I might set it up with both, and see which is better. Speeds and general flying looks reasonably close to scale with the power. I think the 26cc 4T is too much for 2m span. All the videos I have seen of it in one this size so far show a red bullet, not a Decca.

Bite My Krank no problem! The rcg 20cc flys it really well, but I ended up putting the roto 25v engine in it for a couple of reasons. I wanted to run a bigger prop as the 16" looked to small on the rcg. I couldn't go with the dle as that engine is lighter than the rcg and the rcg only just made cg. So the roto 25v fixed both the issues, bigger prop, more weight on the nose and plenty of power. I added build pics on a group on Facebook if you want to look. m.facebook.com/groups/20194392275?view=permalink&id=10154160038202276

Another new toy Jay? 😄👍 Wish I could fly my planes as I'm fully occupied for the next 2 weeks.

Yep, bought it earlier on in the year, just not had the time to get her up.

Do you fly without a silencer? The noise is very loud! :-(

Stock silencer on roto 25

@@jayrothwell At our model airfield it wouldn´t be allowed to fly about 80 dB(A) (measured from 7 m distance). Your Decathlon is definitvely louder than 80 dB(A).

@@Echinger1 I must be lucky then!

@@jayrothwell Yes, you can be very lucky. I´ve sold the same Seagull Decathlon last week. My Decathlon will fly with a AGM 30 V2 engine (www.amazon.de/Neu-Version-Benzinmotor-Verbrennungsmotor-Gasengine-Flugmodell/dp/B00HVVRRNY ) in combination with a compact muffler from Krumscheid ( www.krumscheid-metallwaren.de/schalldaempfer-direktanschluss-593/schalldaempfer-direktanschluss-fuer-motor-da-60-591.html ) and a 19x8 prop (from Biela). I hope it´s not louder than 80dB(A). 😱🤫😉

that is not the engine, needs a good tune and/or better fuel mixture.

I replaced the carb and ignition unit on this engine, it sounds like it's running rich but if you lean it slightly it quits. Plane now has a roto 25v

@@jayrothwell Not debating right or wrong. Many times bad two stroke oil, gasoline, and/or not correct mix. Rule is one full turn for L and H, with a little bit more or less. I had a DLE w modified piston ring and took a few tanks to finally settled. How is the airplane? does it tip stall? has good landing gear? Do wing struts are strong enough?
