on our second sea glass hunt at Seaham, we only lasted about 50 minutes due to the awful cold, but we fund some lovely little baubles. The beach was in fantastic condition for hunting with shingle piled high & deep.

thanks for showing how to look for the glass! And the tip about the sun is most appreciated. We are coming in May, do you have any recommendations on how to pick the right time to go down to hunt? I know with Sea shells, you go down to hunt as the tide is going out- is it the same for sea glass? Thanks for any help you can give.

As with any beach hunt, we find it best to head down about 2 hours before full low tide, that was you're pretty much guaranteed a good few hours to hunt. Always best to go to Seaham on a spring tide if you can, however Seaham is a sloped beach much of the time so this can work in your favour. Happy hunting 👍👍👍

Can you walk and hunt for sea glass at night or are the beaches closed? Thanks for the help!

@@melissawiygul3675 the beaches are never closed, however some of the beaches I visit are VERY jagged & difficult to traverse. Stick to flat shingle if you can 👌👌

Thanks! We will be watching for the tide and will stick to the flat shingles AND use our flashlights!

@@melissawiygul3675 Small point. Glass tends to show up much clearer when it's wet, particularly in focused light, so a few metres from the sea should set you right. Happy hunting.
