Seal Rescued From Ball of Fishing Line

Wally and Antoine have successfully secured an entangled seal in the rescue net at Pelican Point. She is strong and healthy and the rescuers assume that she has a pup somewhere close by on the beach. By saving her life, her pup will also have the chance to grow into a healthy seal.
The rescuers remove one of our most common entanglements: a ball of fishing line.
As a special treat, we get to see her run back into the ocean from Naude's kayak. 🦭

Yes, I was about to comment the same. And different cameras too I think, one wide lens and one not. The ocean seemed far from the rescuers' point of view but the rescuers and rescued seemed very close to Naude in the kayak.

For such a large seal, she's very agile, the way she snapped in opposite directions at the end. Thankfully, her entanglement didn't appear to cause any significant damage, but in time, who knows?

My goodness!!! The whale vertebrae was huge!!!! That seal must have felt great, after being freed from her entanglement. At the end of the day, it must feel soooo good, knowing you saved a seal(s) from agony, or untimely death. On the same token, I'll bet y'all can't wait to get to the office in the morning!!! I am always amazed that the zippers in your nets don’t regularly disintegrate when a seal pushes all the way into the net and stretches the fabric as well as the spine of the zipper. Salt water and sand are the two worst enemies of zippers, and yet the nets keep performing so incredibly well.

My favorite part of the rescues is seeing the seals enter the water - free of entanglements. I love how they dip their heads in the first shallow bit of the sea and then leap into it. Sometimes I forget how graceful they are in the water. Anyway, another great rescue, kudos to team OCN!!

Great work guys! The seals must be terrified when they are first netted; not knowing what the hell is happening. But it only for a short time, and the experience would soon be forgotten.
