A really useful piece of kit this - not many compressors out there can compress all the way down to 30mm - a big bonus when space is limited!!!

Thank you for that key detail: minimum opening of 40mm! My 2009 Audi S5 rear control arm opening is 34mm (rubber boarder included). This is a excellent tool , but they need to design a threaded adapter to fit the smaller openings.

Good info. As I’m looking for a kit for my A6 avant I’m glad you mentioned that this would be no good for my car.

Excellent, thank you. Yes, we try and cover as much as the spec as we can for tools such as this because the job will vary considerably for each make/model. I'm DIY mechanic and I spending a lot money for my tools because the quality, comfort and safety. It's worth every penny. I'm fixing my three cars and my friends cars and you will get your money back by not paying the mechanic.

There's no strut, don't most cars have a strut if not all. When I suggested I had seen adverts and youtubers doing springs straight to the vehicle and this being ridiculous they agreed laughing that such cons could be.

What's the point of this when you can't remove or attach a shock absorber with this tool, pretty useless.

This tool is just for spring removal, most commonly for the rear where the spring and shock are often separate. This allows you to compress the spring to be able to remove it, and this compresses from the centre rather than outside of the spring, which can be very handy if space is tight. Hope that helps!

Tool #62300 from Lisle corp will be able to relatively safely compress springs on shock absorbers. But nothing beats a shop standing spring compressor which securely holds the whole strut in place.
