Great video about a Sealskin binding of the ASV-1901. The ASV-1901 has been a very accurate and classic modified-literal version. It has no equal in that sense. I have an earned PhD in Old Testament Studies and an earned PhD in New Testament Greek and Exegesis. (And I do not say that to boast. I say it because I have an academic foundation in both Old and New Testament languages. As a result I have compared the ASV-1901 to the original texts on many occasions, and I have found the ASV-1901 to be the best modified-literal translation we have ever had in English. Even to this day it is a magnificent study Bible, and the footnotes are very beneficial in a person's study.

It is held in very high regards by those who read it. I really wish there were more accessible versions of it. Prolific Industries used to produce a large edition of it, but they've been out of stock for months now. I think Humble Lamb is tossing around the idea, so maybe there will be a new binding of an old favorite. Do you have any opinion on the 1901 versus the 1929?

@@RustyBibles Yes they are the same text. The ASV was published in 1901, and Nelson began publishing it in 1929. Nelson actually published the "Teacher's Edition," and later published what is known as 756 edition. It had 11 point type, and margins that were about one inch.

1. Prolific Industries should shortly be republishing/relaunching its ASV. 2. The best ASV was Monser’s 1910 Cross-Reference Bible.

If you ever put it up I would love to purchase it...I have been on the look out for a decent ASV for the last year. I do really love my 1952 RSV I got from you last time. Take care

It posted the same time as this video. I try to post them at the same time. If I don't, it's because I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it, or I might have an idea for a later video with it. I'm trying to review all the Bibles I'll sell immediately first though. Here's the link: www.ebay.com/itm/256207441340

That's quite a find there! But all I can imagine is some old sailor dude that looks like a guy from a clam chowder can on some old whaler just collecting seals and bashing them over the head with a baton, saying, "You're a Bible! Now you're a Bible...."

I'll take it! At least he had Bibles on his mind! 😆
