Thanks for all that you do, Tim. Love the channel and the heart that you bring to every single video. Here is a video idea: What is the best one-year read through Bible? It would need to be easy to carry and inviting to read. This may help people get their Bible for the upcoming resolutions to read the Bible in a year.

I enjoyed hearing about the Bible that got you into the Bible. I had The NIV Student Study Bible back in the 90s that I carried to youth group for years. It has a special place though the paperback cover is beat up and all. One translation that wasn’t mentioned here is the God News Bible. I remember my dad had one of these with flowing line drawing illustrations throughout. I didn’t read it until years later, but those illustrations had me looking through the Bible and wanting to know about the stories. The Bible that I read all the way through when I came to that place where I wanted to know for myself what the Bible has to say was a New Living Translation. I think the ease of reading was key in getting through that first time for me. I have a Life Application Bible in green hardback that I got my senior year of high school. That doesn’t seem that long ago to me, but I think the NLT text has been updated a couple of times since then. Now I’m entering that stage where Bible text is getting harder to read and I have defaulted to using the Olive Tree app on the iPad at church because I can set the font size. With so many translations and things I like about each one, I continue to debate on which to find a large print version of. I’m looking forward to reading your book (that arrived today!) and continue to enjoy watching the videos like this one where I can see the features of physical Bibles to help inform me on that choice. I still have a couple translations I haven’t read through, so I have some time to think on it. Thank you for sharing the joy you’ve found with the Bible with us. It’s great to have found a community that likes to explore the Bible in the myriad ways it has come to us.

I want to congratulate you on your hard work in regards to releasing the book and look forward to hearing the many others who read the book and find light in the various translations as well as the background stories on them. Because of your channel, Today I will be receiving my first NKJV bible and as someone who was afraid of the text prior, I am very excited to explore and cross reference with the NIV, the ESV and the other great translations we have. I look forward to what the future has for you and look forward to your many great reviews, videos!

I just got my LSB MacArthur Study Bible- Beautiful!!!!! The maps are everywhere in the Old Testament and placed to correspond to the scripture passages. The charts correspond with the scripture through out the Bible. . The font is easy to read. The notes are at the bottom of the page. There are 7 pages of detail of prophesies fulfilled by Christ. The reference to God in the OT is Yahweh and accurate translation of doulas in the New Testament. This is a great Bible. So well done!!!!!

I really love all of those translations. LSB has become my favorite in terms of the central translation I want to study from but every one you covered I love and respect. The LSB ICR has a similar block but adds the references (translator notes and cross references) - that’s the one I have. The new PPR is amazing but my eyes can’t handle smaller fonts anymore. So I want to get the Large Print Reference (a bigger version of the PPR) and I would love to have the new LSB MacArthur Study Bible someday. Bless you Tim!!!

Great video! Well.... I just received my Bible Translations for Everyone today. I delved into it thinking I'd read just a chapter or two and before I knew it I was over 2/3rd's of the way through. You did a great job making the read easy for us laymen who have not gone to seminary. Also I want to give a round of applause for the cover. I was very impressed with the design. It looks great and feels so cool. Fantastic job both of you. Additionally, I just to say that in the inexpensive world of LSB Bibles by Steadfast, I have a portable paragraph reference red letter, indexed version. I'm not sure if you have reviewed this, but I was so impressed with this little black beauty for under $50. I would love to hear your thoughts about it, if you do a video on high quality non premium compact Bibles. I actually purchased a red with black quills (imitation of course) ostrich/alligator cover for it.

I’m a KJV guy and I agree. Although my Allen 5WM , Allen Blackface & Schuyler Canterbury are incredible, my Cambridge Concord WM has the cleanest text and by far, the best references. The center column reference is perfect. Not to mention the 80+ blank pages for notes. I will say, I am excited, I just got an email this morning that my Schuyler Stridon NKJV is in transit to my home. I ordered a saddle brown and Desert Camel and will let my Wife choose which one she wants & I will take the other. I do think my NASB 95’ WM from Steadfast is excellent as well. I will be ordering your book for myself, my brother in law and an extra copy for a Christmas gift for a friend. I absolutely love your channel. Crossway does make good bibles, but personally, I believe the Cambridge Clarion ESV in Black goat skin is the best version of the ESV. It is single column just like the crossway heritage. The size is perfect and the way it lays open due to the soft goat skin makes for a great reading experience.

Glad you tossed in the LSB, its become my daily driver...ICR is fav, kinda like a Judge. ESV...not unlike the Heritage but bigger I prefer the Preacher in paragraph but carry the large print thinline (no reference) to chur h. NKJV its the single classic reference all the way. CSB I dig the single column paragraph of the Pastor's. Cool call on the NIV study...I had my 84 rebound by Scriptura. Actually really digging the NJV as well, the calfskin by RJB is dreamy with an ASV JPS17 based OT and majority NT. Still appreciating a classic 87 Amplified in hardback too. NASB 2020...wide margin reference based on the schuyler block. NLT...original filament bible. RSV and KJV Sovereign. I came to appreciate all these through reviewers like yourself and your contemporaries. Very grateful.

Cambridge NASB Topaz. I need to look into that. I didn't realize (or remember) that it's a verse by verse, which is my favorite, with the red letter in the New Testament. I'm hoping that Cambridge has it in a faux leather cover because I need to keep it cheap without getting a hardcover. The only reason I am even going to look at it is because of the references and the way they are laid out on the page. I will try to justify buying it as a late birthday and early Christmas gift from me to me. :)

Great video and congrats on the book release! I have two personal favorites that I'd like to shine some light on. The CSB Adorned Bible is my favorite for just reading. The gold accents don't break up the text in the single column format and the illustrations are beautiful without being distracting. It just feels like I'm reading a good book. My favorite Bible for more in depth reading is the LSB inside column reference Bible. The single column verse by verse format is great for study and the inside column references keep the text from spilling into the gutter. Plus I love that the LSB uses the name Yahweh, it gives the text a different feel.

I'm with you on midsized Bibles. My favorite ESV is the Omega and its cousins like the Creeds & Confessions. I agree the LSB handy size is perfect from a size perspective but it lacks cross references and I love cross references so that's why I bought a portable paragraph reference.

I agree way more than I thought I would. My favorite KJV is the blue goatskin concord by Cambridge. My top NRSV is the Allan. And the ESV heritage is not only my favorite ESV but probably the the best design of any Bible. As far as something to write in, I love the KJV note takers Bible by KJV store. It beats all other wide margin Bible's that I've tried. It's the only other KJV I use.

I think the Topaz is the overall best block out there. I started with the NKJV, then grabbed an ESV, then the KJV! Lol! But MAN I wish they would have done a CSB Topaz instead of that Diadem. :( I used to LOVE the Concord too and its unique bold center column reference. The text is so clean! But I wish it had a bigger font. That 8pt font is just too small :( Same with the NLT PSQ. GORGEOUS Bible but the font is just a hair too small :(

@@timwildsmith Oddly, I don't like the Concord. Not a fan of Times New Roman (yes, that's exactly what the font is) in Bibles - reminds me of cheap 1980s Zondy editions. More up my alley is the Turquoise or Cameo.
@markcase59172 күн бұрын
Not sure how you didn't fit a Thompson chain reference into your list. I think that system is spectacular.
@JesusLovesYouPerfectly2 күн бұрын
for the KJV, it's a toss up between the Canterbury and the Turquoise. for the Topaz, i have the exact same color but, in ESV. for the NIV, i love my NIV Heritage in the Passagio Setting in Blue Buffalo Leather. for the NKJV, i love the NKJV Shepherd as well by Humble Lamb, except mine is in the Amethyst color and not the Sahara Blue. for the ESV, i do love the ESV Topaz that i have but, honestly i think i love my ESV VBV Preaching Bible in Goatskin leather just a bit more and i especially like that one because it's Goatskin inside And out, which makes the cover absolutely soft and silky. for the NET, i also have the full notes edition in imitation leather and yes, it is a very helpful study-type bible. for the CSB, i'd say it's a tie between the VBV handcrafted collection and the CSB Study Bible. i like the VBV edition when i just want to read the bible and i like the study bible edition when i want to go more in-depth. for the LSB, i have the full size edition in, i believe, Cowhide Leather and it's a great translation, easy to read. i can't comment on the NRSV because i don't have that one but, i do have the RSV like you do, except mine isn't as old as yours and it's in Goatskin but, i do still really like it.

I really like this video, though I don't have to agree with your picks. You made some good ones! You made the mistake of requesting that we send our suggested list to you, as if I could teach you anything. I don't want to bore you. Still, I shall send my picks. I have been attempting to purchase super giant print Bibles during the past two years, when I find them available. But, it would be too easy for me simply to list my growing list of 16- and 16.5-point Bibles. So, I shall generally use other criteria for my selections. These are listed in no particular order of preference, regarding translations: (1) KJV - When I was about 11, my parents gave me an imitation leather, v-by-v, reddish brown, center column reference "Light of the World" edition, from World Publishing. Each OT verse which refers to Christ's first advent is marked with a black star. It includes a 75-page commentary, and a 414-page encyclopedia/concordance/subject index. It has about a 10.5 type. (2) Perhaps I'm cheating with this one. But, the text is a modified KVJ. It's the 1987 New Scofield Reference Bible, from Oxford, with Hand-grained Morocco binding (navy). The notes are the best of any of the Scofields. And, I'll cheat again. The Ryrie Study Bible from Moody Press (I have several) is my all-time favorite study Bible -- in hardback, soft touch, and cowhide, in KJV, NASB, and NIV. (3) NASB - A real treasure! 1971 edition, from World Publishing, in genuine leather --The 1971 has always been my favorite of the NASBs! I bought it new. (4) NLT - Love the NLT! I have three, including the chronological Life-Application. It's beautiful; yet the type is too small. So, I prefer the super giant print filament in leatherlike. (5) HCSB - The [Original] Apologetics Study Bible, in two-tone blue leather-flex -- A gem from eBay! (6) CSB - from Holman; super giant print, burgundy leathertouch (7) Berean Standard - standard-size hardback, red cover, black letter (love black letter)! (8) NIV - 1984 Large Print Reference Bible [Personal Size] in navy bonded leather -- It was a steal from eBay. (9) Evangelical Heritage Version - from Northwestern -- Brown hardback, single column text (love single column!), black letter (love black letter)! (10) Lexham English LXX - green with gold hardback (I greatly appreciate the Septuagint.) Of course, I could list more. However, I don't pursue a premiere collection. I have only one: Cambridge Cameo KJV with wide margin. The print is too small. I had bought it for my dad, back around 1980. It is bound in saddle-brown calfskin. He hardly ever carried it. By the way, I received your book today. Wonderful! I'm going to enjoy it. Tonight, I began teaching a Zoom class on the history of our English Bible. Your book will certainly come in handy! The KJV we have today isn't the 1611 edition but a revision from 1769, so the text isn't from the 1600's but is an updated version with English from the Declaration of Independence era.

I really wanted the NET Full Notes Edition but the font is horribly small for me so will wait till a lg print comes out(prayerfully, so). I'm thinking about the NIV lg print study Bible because it's "comfort print" and some say it's a bit darker then the ESV lg print(hope that's the case, esp with the notes at the bottom). Cambridge makes the BEST KJV Bibles - hands down. They are the oldest Bible publisher in the world and you can tell. My favorite would be either their Turquoise or Large Print. I agree I love classic stylings for KJV too 😁

Love your video's. Curious what you think about the Amplified Bible. Have you done a video on this translation? What are your thoughts???

I have not spent much time with it.

This is just my personal opinion, but I'm not keen on the Amplified Bible. My initial purpose in checking it out many years ago was due to a couple of teachers I followed using it. I find it interesting, but it's too easy to read into it meanings and definitions that might not be fully justified by the context. The updated version, in my view, is a bit better, but it's not my first choice as a go-to Bible for reading or study.

@@timwildsmith my favorite Bible translation is the NIV. I would be curious to hear your take on the amplified version if you feel lead to do so.

Happy release day. I’m interested in knowing if writing in your Bible versus not is significant in the Bible that you choose as your best. I use a journaling Bible that I consider as my choice.

I write separately most often, so it's not a huge factor for me.

Your reasoning with the KJV was exactly why I went with an Allan 53 Longprimer for my KJV. It looks and feels old from the type set, format, even the words Holy Bible stamped on the front screams classic and old timey to me.

It came down to those two!

I thought you no longer had the NIV study Bible because it wasn't on the background with the other study Bibles😮💨

I’ve not seen you mention the MEV. Maybe you have and discounted it. I find it to be very good.

I don't think they've released any new copies of it since I started reviewing Bibles... and the publisher is not very active. It comes up occasionally, but not often.

I thought the Trump Bible would be its own category. Other than that I’d say NASB history and omega are goats. I love them. ❤ thanks Tim.

Am I the only one who was surprised that the ESV study Bible is more popular than the Life Application Study Bible?
