Now 007, this is a stiletto heel. Very nice for formal wear or killing a small bird. Over here we have some wedges; much more stability and a bit more heft if you're up against, say, a ferret or a some other mustelid.

This is where Monkey Man is superior to James Bond because Dev Patel does, in fact, enact bloody vengeance using a stripper's stiletto heel on a man's face

The description of James Bond fighting fish is funny considering that he fights a giant squid in the novel Dr. No.

Huh, the hiding it behind the bed indicates to me that the spider was not killed! Amazing bit though. I know we are on the same wave length when all the hylights are all the sections I have relistened too dozens of times! (Waiting for "the cigarette that kills you instantly")

You know, if it wasn't actually killed, I have a strange feeling it was because Connery wasn't willing to actually get that close to it rather than out of any real consideration for the spider.

The funny thing about assassination by tarantula is - unless you have an allergy - their venom is not particularly deadly. The bite is apparently like a bee-sting; it can be painful and have a bit of swelling, but is normally not deadly (unless you have an allergy).

@@lyndonwesthaven6623 Excellent point! The tarantula's primary defense are its barbed, irritating hairs. At the same time, that is generally more of an annoyance than a lethal way of dispatching someone.

The book background for Dr No was that he was an accountant for the chinese Triads and had plastic surgery to make himself look "western" as a disguise after stealing their money. I don't remember if they went into that in the film.
