As a journalism student its sad that this is now a novel idea, like "wow, I never thought I would value a *journalist* of all people!" But also, Sean's story is pretty much why everyone who becomes an A&E/culture journalist does it in the first place. For our generation its watch Almost Famous and fantasize about getting paid to travel and talk to famous people and then have millions of other people tell you you're smart for writing it down. That's why I got into it lol, I wanted to be a travel writer or food writer or movie writer or music writer and just get paid to consume things. Sean is 100% a HUGE part of that show working. His research and different questions (along with the hot sauce meltdowns) help humanize the guests and get them “down to our level”. That’s what makes it work for me. Couldn’t see anyone else doing this show and making it better. Regarding the question about “imposter syndrome” and feeling replaceable, I’ll say that Sean Evans is legitimately one of the greatest interviewers I’ve ever watched. His questions are constantly breaking the mold of the regular interview, he’s informed about the medium in which his guest works and asks questions that consider their perspective being entrenched in an art form. Not only that, but he deals with adversity incredibly well. I watched the DJ Khaled episode for the first time recently and Sean constantly digs at answers that are given that seem devoid of substance. A lot of what Khaled said in that interview is nonsense, like ‘I’ve never lost at anything,’ after quitting the wings after 3 or something. Anyway. This is the long, tangential way of saying Sean is a phenomenal interviewer and is a LARGE part of why I watch the show along with the spectacle of it all.

The internet is weird because of the attachment that we get to the people who host the shows. There's no Hot Ones without Sean, it's not Tonight Show when you get a new host every few years. Sean is a part of the appeal of the show, the way he talks with his hands, the last dab, the way he talks and comfronts the guests. I'm not watching the show for the wings and celebs suffering, but for the whole show.

It's more than just eating hot wings. Sean asks the most unique and well thought out questions. It's actually fun and interesting to watch his interviews because you always come away from the interview knowing something about the guest that you likely would not have found out from any other press interview.

He's just as great at taking interviews as he is at giving them! You can tell that Sean is super dedicated to what he does and we are ALL impressed with his research, comments and questions (as well as his hot sauce eating abilities!). I think they have found the BEST host for Hot Ones and not sure I would watch if anyone else hosted those interviews. To be honest.. I sometimes watch more for Sean than the celebrity or wing eating. Heck, Sean IS the celebrity now.. i'd watch an episode of just him eating wings and talking about his life!

I was very happy to catch this interview!! Because. Sean Evans. You could NEVER replace this man. Its not even the show thats happening, its Sean. One of the best eps that point this out is the Nore ep. When Nore says "Yo, this dude is just like Nardwaur" is every reason you could never replace him. The knowledge Sean has, retains and seeks out is second ONLY to Nardwaur. Literally two of the greatest interviewers ive ever seen. Sean, you are so amazing with people. Its freaking incredible. So good no one can really see it. But you said it once, wait I remember the Will Farrel ep. I quote you Sean "If you went with Bear Grylls into the woods and when you got there he panicked, would you follow him?" Sean is their bloody life line to reality in this show and its incredible!! The HipHop ones are def my favorite because Sean is a true fan of HipHop and knows his history. All the questions reflect all that. And his respect for these people and just people in general. #LEGEND people should be taking notes. Being "real" isnt about exposing people or making them look bad. Its about the golden rule folks! Sean you really are the core of this show.
