From what i read, it was Sean himself who came up with that game idea to Jimmy and pushed really hard to have it take place. He then acts like it's the stupidest thing ever, to sell the bluff to Jon. He probably thought initially of his "reaching inside the box" move first and conceived the whole skit around that.

Hi Amanda. I've been watching your channel for some time now and I must say that you have become one of my top 5 reaction channels, I loved your reaction to Sean Locks carrot in a box. I just thought you would like to know that there is a revenge episode of carrot in a box which is a must watch episode. It is very sad when is comes to losing someone with such Comedic talent as Sean had, he will be missed by millions. Sadly he passed away on the 18th August 2021 at home from Cancer with his family by his side, even though he has gone he will still have me in stitches until the day I die. Thanks Amanda for reacting to such an iconic comedian.
