Excellent interview, Thank you! I have had the experience that "the general public" seem to think that there is a non-rival probability that the future might be really bad e.g. end of humanity, though a general conception is that it's not possible to study it, there is nothing to done about it or "we still have a good shoot". I hope that changes in the near future so people might actually will invest more resources into lowering that probability.

As far as I can see, to any extent that a companies value perusing competitive economic goals, the goals can be achieved more efficiently with greater automation (including AI). Though the strategy may not be sustainable for us (the people) if it does not value much about us besides our ability to provide utility in the form of work and cash-flow etc. We might merge with the machines, but that is another link in the dependency chain for survival.

I kind of agree. I think revolutions can be chaotic and dangerous - to me the current economics has an incentive mechanism that is not optimised for social well being. Increased automation will leave us all jobless if Norbert Weiner was right. I can't think of anything that is special about me as a human that could not be designed and automated into a machine (even general intelligence).

Within our monetary system you can find as many downsides to a certain technology if it promises profits it will be created nonetheless. We need a cooperative socioeconomic system in order to decrease existential risks.
