He is even starting to sound like his dad. The perfect group to portray the first three Doctors would be: David Bradley as William Hartnell, Michael or David Troughton as Patrick Troughton & Sean Pertwee as Jon Pertwee.

Matthew R Yeah. Even if it is just one brief scene, like Tom Baker in the 50th.

I had the honor of meeting Jon Pertwee at a convention in Dallas years ago. Sean was already working as an actor, (something Jon was very proud of) and I asked Jon back then if he'd like to see Sean follow him in the role. Jon said no, and quite firmly. He went on to say that people would inevitably compare the two and argue over which was the better actor. He did not want that.

peccatumDei Yeah, like Sean said, his father left big boots to fill, so as much as we'd love to see the Third Doctor return in some way, the end result may not really be as desirable as you might initially imagine. Perhaps it's for the better to preserve his memory and legacy than let one of the modern writers try to handle his Doctor and not do him justice. Jon also had a very distinct personality which he added to the Doctor, what impressionist Jon Culshaw described as, "an attack personality." He had this sort of sharp tone and sense of seriousness in his voice which immediately grasped your attention, and it's not necessary that Sean might be able to replicate that.

Quite right to. I think putting distance between himself and his "fathers career" (NOT FATHER) was sensible as he started out.

I think maybe Sean could still be in an extremely short scene playing his dad, maybe no lines and doesn’t really show the face much, you know? That kind of thing.

Does anyone else find it awesome that Alfred Pennyworth’s dad is the third doctor.

I met Sean yesterday at Wales Comic Con, lovely guy. I asked him if BBC had asked him to appear in Doctor Who and if he'd appear as the 3rd Doctor. He said one of the original show runners didn't want him on the show because he'd been in violent horror and sci fi films but as he said on here that Moffat asked him but he couldn't do it. He did say he'd like to do something which would pay homage to his dad but wouldn't want to portray the 3rd Doctor as it would feel weird and wrong for him.

Jon Pertwee was the best Doctor Who ever followed by Tom Baker. Sean Pertwee would be great playing hid Dads 3rd Doctor or even better playing his own Doctor, maybe the 14th Doctor.

I want a story where the 13th Doctor meets the 3rd Doctor fighting alongside with Brigadier, Jo and the UNIT family.

I'm trying to picture Sean with a wig to look like his Dad, and can sort of see it!? But Jon had a certain way of speaking and moving, and I don't know if the word is appropriate, but he had an 'elegance' about him!? I remember in the '3 doctors', the 1st doctor referred to Jon as a 'Dandy'! I'm not sure if Sean would be able to replicate his father's voice and mannerisms well enough to pull it off!?

North Americans can't really grasp the freight that regional accents carry in British culture. The received posh English that Jon Pertwee put on to play that character as opposed to the way he normally sounded and the way Sean sounds now has all sorts of complicated messaging about class solidarity and British social evolution that flies right over most of North Americans heads. I suspect he will never play his dad's Doctor Who performance, and that posh accent, which he could undoubtedly pull off if he wanted to, will be a big part of why.
