@@humanman9920 Let’s all acknowledge GT is not canon and Daima is, as far as we know. Toriyama is hands on with Daima in all aspects whereas he mostly drew character designs for GT and left the rest to the anime team. That’s fine if Toriyama liked it, but it’s been pushed to the side since many fans disproved of it, regardless of any redeeming qualities it had. Considering how involved Toriyama is with Daima, this feels like the continuation he wanted for the series and shown by how well done that animation is and how the story is progressing, this feels much more respectful of the source material. This show isn’t GT, I get that, but people will compare it because it’s filling a similar gap of time and obviously people will draw comparisons with characters turning back into kids. I just appreciate that Toriyama is way more involved this time around.

I changed my whole view on Daima after had watched a documentary on Toriyama and learned he had always just wanted to do fun adventure series', and he just always had this habbit of when he would stay on any series too long he would accidentally start creating long in depth storylines, like he just couldn't help it or something, but he would regret it cause he just wanted to do fun kid's shows. So then I realized ok, this was really important to him.

Not really, Toriyama isn't some infallible being. Just because he's dead doesn't mean everyone has to like everything he made or was a part of. I'm not a fan of Daima so far. Sean brings up a good point but unfortunately imo it isn't executed well and I think they could have just tried something new altogether.

Despite what people thought of super it still had a recipe from Toriyama, you saw with GT or even with dragon ball heroes how unfocused most of toeis writing without Toriyama is. What people is trying to get YOU to understand is it doesn't matter if you liked daima or not because it's going to get worse storywise from here. The difference between Toriyama and Toei is that Toriyama writes the story to where to know what's going on for the most part, with Toei they don't know how to write characters that aren't Goku well enough to focus on them. You can see it with GT and the super anime, they constantly force the side characters to the side because they didn't know what to do with them. Even with Toriyamas notes they couldn't fulfill what he wanted, that's why it's so much confusion on how Gohan became god level out of nowhere: Toei didn't do what Toriyama wanted Gohan to do so he had to do it within ONE movie. Gohan MULTIPLE times stop training in Super because Toei couldn't be bothered to write him in the plot until Toriyama made them for the TOP because he's a part of it. Long story short, story wise this is going to be the peak of dragon ball story telling, regardless if you like it or not. There are many fans not fans of OG dragon ball, doesnt mean it's bad, just not for you. But you'll see the quality change when the anime returns and they go beyond super hero.

I'll just say if you're whining about Daima - the last gift Toriyama gave us - you're NOT a real Dragonball or Toriyama fan. He was heavily involved with the entire production - he wanted to do some world building that explains a lot of things in Dragonball -like the origin of Popo, the kais, the namekians - and because it takes place BEFORE Super, it shouldn't even interfere with it- so RELAX and just enjoy the last Akira Toriyama-lead project you will EVER see. I'm cherishing every moment of it for that reason, and I'll be truly sad when the credits roll on the final episode, knowing that...that's it. Dragonball will never have its father at the wheel ever again. So CHERISH THIS.
