What petit did this postseason was momentum changing every time he touched the ball. Giants needed him to throw zeros and that’s what he did time and time again. Clutch

The unsung hero of our 2014 postseason run, truly.

Absolutely. If he doesn't hold the line and give us the chance at a comeback, we could very well have ended up down 3-1. Not impossible (as we'd demonstrated two years earlier), but a very deep hole to climb out of.

I agree. Petit was the freaking MAN for the Giants. I still remember when he was a single strike away from perfection, went to a 3-2 count and that dam hitter got a hit. I felt so bad for him. He also still holds the MLB record for most consecutive batters retired at 46. That's over 15 straight perfect innings without so much as a walk. I miss that dude. He was a good Giant.

This game is very important for the Giants. I remember being so scared thinking we were going to lose this game. My heart was racing with the Royals went up for 4-1. And then the Giants just rallied on and scored 11 to 4. This team is so much heart and never gave up. I feel like if they didn’t win this game they would’ve lost the series. A lot of clutch hitting here!!!

Watched this game at my high school homecoming. Someone brought a tiny desk tv and fifty other people and I crowded around as we won. Great memories.

I was astounded that we rallied like that to take game 3. Vogelsong probably would've pitched at least two more innings had he been able to find first. Regardless, a win is a win, and I was so stoked to win this one as I knew we were going to win game 5 to take it back to KC and hopefully win it there.

Putting in Juan Perez was huge. His defense was huge in this game

14:52 Posey is probably out at home (again) if that ball isn't cut off. Come on, Buster, you're no Rickey Henderson!

Thanks for posting this. I was feeling nostalgic for the days of live sports and hoping I could find some clips of this game. I was lucky enough to be at this game and it was unreal. At around the 14:59 mark the video is shaky - I remember the stadium was shaking from the jumping/cheering crowd when we took the lead.

the ground attack in this game was real! Small ball to perfection. I miss this style of baseball using pinch hitters, bunting, bullpen moves, etc. Not the same with universal DH :/

If this was pitched in 2019, Herrera would've been in the 5th rather than the 7th. Royals massively messed up by playing the game too much to script. I am so glad they messed up by putting in Frasor and Finnegan in the 5th and 6th. If they put Herrera out there in the 5th, he could get that and the 6th and Davis could probably get 7th and 8th, with Holland taking the 9th or some of the final outs in the 8th. We Giants fans have to be lucky they didn't do this because they more than likely were going to shut us down.

Should be thankful this wasnt played two seasons later because the Royals would've played Herrera in the 5th and 6th, Davis in thr 7th and 8th and Holland in the 9th. Instead they had their lesser bullpen arms come in and we took advantage

Ned Yost blew the series during this game. After Vargas is pulled with a lead, why not stretch Herrera/Davis/Holland the rest of the game to secure a 3-1 series lead (and guaranteed series win)? Instead it's Frasor and Duffy who immediately blow the lead. So then it's 4-4, why not put in HDH to keep it tied and give the offense a shot to retake the lead? Nope, Yost puts in a rookie who gets absolutely shelled. Yost doesn't put in Herrera again until game 5 in the 7th inning when Bumgarner is already cruising with a 2-0 lead. Thanks Ned!
