I tested Sean's impersonation of a SMPTE signal on a Beeple clip and it unlocked the Resolume 8 beta for me.

Hey dude just wanted to thank you for putting this channel together. Your videos really helped me out over the past couple days. I took a gig as an LED tech and the day before the show I found out it was Really a VJ gig. Your content helped me put together a great show in a pinch

It’s probably just because you spell your name the right way, so you’re a badass and pulled it off. but I’ll accept a small amount of credit lol. Hell yeah! That’s awesome. Love to hear it 🤘

Hi Sean, This year, I'd like to use RA for the first time to map my house facade. Thanks to your tutorials, I've already managed to set up various projectors, but now I'd like to add some DMX spots and moving heads synchronized with timecode. My mapping content is quite long (about 1 hour), and I’m wondering if there’s an add-on or tool that could save me a lot of work.

Awesome video once again! One question: I am a VJ at a night club where different DJ's come every weekend and all the operating is done on the fly now. Timecode isn't really relative for my situation correct? I am trying out Pro DJ Link soon to see how that works out. Do you think that is the way to go for my current situation?
@SeanBowes Жыл бұрын
True, it might be rare that you will need timecode as the house guy at a club. Showkontrol could be useful just for spying on the decks to see what’s coming, and help you handle occasional timecode tasks like an intro or something. Pro Dj Link could work in the same way. Let me know how you like it!

Can audio clips be triggered by SMPTE in resolume?
@SeanBowes2 ай бұрын
No, any clip with audio, whether video with audio or just audio, will not have SMPTE available as a transport mode
@koto9x Жыл бұрын
1:40 is there a tutorial on this ???
@bobbonniol Жыл бұрын
What if the clip transport drop down doesn't show SMPTE ? I have the audio input side setup, and SMPTE monitor visible and working. But the clip only offers Timeline and BPM under transport options...
@bobbonniol Жыл бұрын
And the answer is... You can't select SMPTE as a transport method if the clip has embedded audio tracks
@SeanBowes Жыл бұрын
This is correct! Thanks for posting the answer Bob. Sorry I didn’t get back sooner, I was traveling to Mexico yesterday 🌮 🇲🇽 🌴 Glad you sorted it out
@GrahamThorne Жыл бұрын
If the clip has audio just press the X above the pink section in the Clips panel. Resolume will remove the audio. Then the SMPTE will appear in drop down menu.

This does work with live mixing? I mean if the dj its playing randomly and the visuals are not edited for the song but i think that the visual would work for that especific song that is playing would sync as well?
@SeanBowes Жыл бұрын
Technically yes you can drive any video you want with timecode, but without them being specificly matched to the song it might not have much benefit to do so

Hey, thanks a lot for the videos! I've been a LD for 15years and just now jumping into video world. I got to ask, is there really no way to input timecode through artnet/osc/any other internal format? Feels stupid to get an external source during programming just for the resolume :D
@SeanBowes Жыл бұрын
At the moment Resolume only takes in SMPTE audio. Usually I would use Showkontrol or TimeCode Live to get timecode over network, and then showkontrol sends the SMPTE audio out to resolume. You can also use ProDJLink, Ableton LInk, and Denon LInk to link directly to a DJ over network. but thats a little different. Hopefully they implement it directly in the future, that would be great!
@Heviaasi Жыл бұрын
@@SeanBowes Well, if i need external tc, i might just as well build a proper pre-viz studio 😂

Can you record hit's or light flashes to timecode if so how?
@mikefarnam99927 ай бұрын
I'm confused, we still have to trigger the loop? Doesnt that defeat the point of having it timecoded?
@SeanBowes7 ай бұрын
Yes you have to cue up the clip in some way. There are some ways to send signals like osc or midi triggers to do that more automatically. And no it doesn’t defeat the purpose. The musician can start the track half way, speed it up, stop and start, and it will stay in time. You can also cue it whenever you want, and it will be perfectly in time as soon as timecode comes in.

Still scratching my head, lifelong musician here record and produced my own music and I’ve been trying to add lighting and visualization. I guess it will come with time. Lord knows I need to watch tutorials at least five times before I get it lol
