I appreciated when Leatherface goes through Kempur's stuff and finds an engagement ring. It is a small detail they didn't need to include, but it makes his death go from disturbing to sad. Ermey also gives the 2nd best performance of his career, and Leatherface is really good too. His actor went full method and grunted like a pig between takes so the actors felt genuinely uncomfortable around him.

2003 TCM was my 1st TCM movie! I was just a kid, a young teen and went with my neighbors to a local video place to rent it. And I remember loving it. It was so memorable. Since then it became my favorite movie of the franchise.

I agree. The main character sallye did an amazing job at being totally terrified, in shock and disbelief that she was really in that situation. Honestly the 1st movie is pure terror and not many other films in the world make such a believable, gritty, realistic take on slashers. The ideas, feeding grandpa the blood. Trying to get him to kill her.. idk they really did seem like a crazy killer inbred type family.

Remake and The Beginning are my favorites after the OG. You might say that people don't like to know the background and how things happened like in The Beginning, but a lot of people and fans, including me likes to know the story behind, specially when being on the killer's side. Thomas is an amazing character and I love his story, makes it feel more human to know about it.

I was all in on your list til you ranked TCM 22 over TCM 2. The surrealist approach to TCM 2 def makes it the second best in the series to me. The fact Tobe Hooper went from such a disturbing first installment into a weird and colorful horror comedy is def something to applaud. It’s all subjective though. TCM 2 horrified me and turned me into a vegetarian as a child due to the cannibalistic undertones. The opening sequence when Leatherface sliced that dude’s head off while Danny Elfman’s band Oingo Boingo played was the most impactful thing I’d seen up until that point. TCM 2022 is fun, I’ll give it that, but it’s stupid as hell. Leatherface has to be at least 70 and he’s breaking people in half and overpowering/out running young and in shape people like he’s Jason or Michael. That was never his character. He was always propped up by his family for better or worse and that whole entire dynamic/theme is completely absent. A few of the stylistic choices there are absolutely tone deaf in the worst way too. What’s the message? Not to take down confederate flags or you’ll get brutalized with a chainsaw? Leave that shit out unless it’s a huge plot point. Unless you’re gonna introduce Leatherface’s new stupid family as racist cannibals, it has absolutely no place in this film and it just served as a convenient means to an end. TCM 2022 is barely better than Texas Chainsaw 3D. You said you disliked 3D cuz it made him an antihero, this did the same exact thing but more convoluted with mixed messages.

I got invited to the red carpet screening and got to meet the star studded cast. Overall was a great experience and I had a blast. I easily prefer it over The Wolverine

How are you from Texas, a movie buff, & never watched a chainsaw massacre film? You blew my mind when you made that statement. Having said that, I thought your countdown was solid, & I very much appreciate you putting the first film at the number 1 spot. The original is my favorite slasher of all time. It's a masterpiece, & raw like you said. I don't think any director, will capture the atmosphere of that film ever again. I was actually offended, when I heard they were making the 2003 remake. Before I see yours, here's mine: 1. Original 1974 (classic, iconic, scary, influential) 2. The Beginning (loved the cast and the pacing helps it become the most entertaining) 3. Remake 2003 (used to be lower cause of the fact they never explore the family a lot and mention that they are cannibals, hated some characters, but now I ignore those problems and it works) 4. Leatherface 2017 (actually liked this one a lot, it tries something different, it has juicy gore, loved the cast, and for some reason it works cause it's weird) 5. Texas Chainsaw 3D (couldn't decide between this and the new direct sequel as both have ton of flaws, but since the new one is the latest and still doesn't offer something new or great, this wins for now due to its entertaining value) 6. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 (loved the kills, the massacre and the post credits scene, but everything else sucks) 7. Part III (Liked the cast especially Viggo, and it's only better than Part 2 cause of its better setting and tone) 8. Part 2 (too comical, weird moments that don't work and lots of flaws and terrible decisions) 9. The Next Generation (Leatherface is screaming all the time like a retarded woman, the kills suck, the story suck, cannibals eating pizza, 😑 it almost ruined Matthew's and Renée's carriers)

Stop hating on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, that movie was solid, great kills, story and it made Leatherface be more relatable character. The qoutes were bad and the carnival scene was horrible but it is still better than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre the beginning, Leatherface 2017, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre next generation. The 3rd act was the best part, Dennis hopper fighting leatherface was bonkers. 2022. Really enjoyed the movie, the 3rd act was pure carnage and gory. The og. Would be really cool if a sequel used the idea of a survivor from a previous film returning to kill Leatherface, succeeding, but then finally snapping, going insane, and hunting down other people in the area. Would love to see it. It would be better than making the same Texas Chainsaw film for the 15th time in a row and actually give the sequel a reason to exist, even if it would be bold af.

I wouldn’t mind a film set before, during, and after the original film, way back in August, 1973, that follows a group of Police Detectives as they investigate crimes which begin as grave-robbings and eventually evolve into full blown Texas Chain Saw Massacres. That or a crossover with Micheal Myers set in the late 1970s.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) is just so much fun. Is it perfect or a oscar winning film? No. Of course not. But that’s to expected!! So many people are bashing the film saying it’s just “another stupid slasher film” and I’m just like DUH?! what more did they want? the cinematography was beautiful, the gore was absolutely insane, leatherface was actually scary, and the acting was overall pretty decent. Definitely at the top of the franchise!

The original movie had a really special touch. The whole family dinner and the psychotic touch feels just so creepy. Now it is just a bad version of Halloween 2018. In terms of Brutality and gore, the movie was fantastic. Story wise, nit so much

Imo, the recent tcm was the weakest. It was too short, the characters felt quite forgettable and there wasn't much of a story to it. The only thing they did good was the gore.

You know I watched the new one when it first came out and genuinely I really enjoyed it it’s getting a lot of mixed reviews atm probably more hate than love but I enjoyed had nice throw backs to other movies and had similarities to previous movies aswell

I don’t 100% agree with “TCM: The Beginning” having those “prequel problems” we didn’t ask for a prequel to the remake to begin with. So showing you how the characters lost limbs and whatnot didn’t seem out of place. I remember watching it in theaters and my sister went “Oh that’s how he lost his legs.”
