Congratulations on 5 years! That is such a huge deal. I don’t often comment but I love hearing stories of successful recoveries. My childhood best friend just lost her long battle with heroin addiction last month. She fought hard for years and I’m no less proud of her for fighting till the end than if she had successfully gotten clean, and she still lives on through donated organs and the people she helped throughout her years in the church. Hearing the stories of survivors means more now than ever. Peace and blessings to you and yours with this huge milestone, Sean.

@@dalestrunk1749 thanks, Dale. It was a punch in the gut to say the very least, but I’m holding up. The circumstances could’ve been a lot worse than they were, as awful as that sounds. 5 different people including a child got her organs because she was a donor. That fact and listening to the stories of folks who successfully recovered help a lot with the coping.

For a yr and a half, I've been struggling with a porn addiction, It was originally just a coping mechanism to escape from covid, but it slowly became an addiction, a carving/desire for more that has dragged me into experiencing fatigue, sleepless nights, hypnic jerks and has sorta ruined my perspective on women. Recently, I've been reading the bible for forgiveness and asking god to help me in my times of need, and so far I'm trying to build the courage to tell my parents that i need help. I have to admit that asking for help isn't easy, especially when you have been fighting it for way too long, but I'll do what is necessary to get my life back to normal and ask god for forgiveness and acknowledging my sins/wrongdoings. I've been watching your channel for 2 years now, I've watched your other sober videos about how you struggled with alcohol and you humbled yourselves in front of others and in the sight of god, all i have to say is congrats on being sober for 5 yrs! You have inspired me to take action and seek help to end my porn addiction.

It is very admirable that year after year, you discuss your struggle with alcoholism and are so public about it. Your 4 Years Sober video changed my perspective on not just alcohol, recreational drugs, etc, but on addiction and how to approach certain struggles that I have in my own personal life. This comment may not mean much in the grand scheme of your KZbin channel, but hopefully you get to see this and know that you are someone I have a great deal of admiration and respect, not only as a film critic, but also as a father and a man. Jim Beam is a real demon for me, and it’s hard trying to leave it out when it became a staple into my childhood from my father as well! He wasn’t abusive like most others (like Mac’s father in The Shack), but he had his moods. When he was sober, he was a great father! Currently, his own bottles drowned me from my niece and nephew and it hurts. Btw, I am only 19

Turned out some others got so Bad drunk they started to be dangerous to each other and to themselves. That taught me that drinking can do that easily even If you Don’t mean it and possibly prevented me from becoming an alcoholist. Hope that was my first AND last bear, now I’m left with hangover but I’m already 4 hours sober so far... so wish me luck!
