Hey Sean I been watching you for years now , and couple of time I have reach out to you … I was wondering if you can plz do a full Logic Pro x mixing and master video with rap vocal , song.. chorus , verse , Chorus , verse , outro full song with only wave plugging.. Also with in the video can you please show how to set up for mixing, with levelling… And balance the vocal and instrumental?? I’m new to mixing , I’m an artist.. I have invested over two grand into getting almost all of wave plugging .. And I’ll really appreciate it if you can please put together a video that I can learn off from , and most likely help put me on the right mixing path … From a two track, mixing and master altogether??? Please Sean , I’ll really appreciate it .!!

thank you for making these videos. i've been recording music now for about 3.5 years and like many, started without any knowledge, just ideas in my head. To say the least it's very difficult to achieve a legit studio quality sound that comes off polished next to existing successful mixes out there. Videos like this have helped get me so far. It might just be me but I really want to learn how to mix like they did with early 2000s rock and hip hop. Idk exactly how to describe it but it feels like it's kinda compressed or squished in a way that takes away some of the range in the sound but makes for a super comfortable listening experience. Even the screaming and heavy yelling plus super bright EQ on everything for the rock songs still sounds very warm and gentle to my ears whereas some of these newer mixes are so edgy sounding with audio just cutting through too hard in my opinion. It feels like somehow music production became a volume battle. About 20 years ago give or take a bit everything was sounding so nice, I wish we'd get back to that style.

that's great Sean ,my only worry is the pumping issues with the L3.i understand that it works like multiband compressor, so how would you avoid the pumping because i have seen that your priorities and the release are different (all other bands), according to standard it should be the same to avoid the pumping effect, well we sometimes need it in other type of music.

That's interesting, I mastered an album last year and used the Aphex aural exciter on the masters. I was looking online and a lot of people say don't do it, use it on individual tracks not the master. I'm still not a very polished producer so I made it to the best of my skill level.

great video, the smile you did at the end shows how much you enjoy what you do. 2 questions, 1) Do you send that track to a bus then apply studiorack or do you change the output to a new track and apply studiorack? 2) Do you make sure your mix is limited at a certain db to give you room to master?
@SeanDivine3 жыл бұрын
Thanks A :) it's up to you, you can certainly route it to an aux. In this case, since it's just the one audio track and I'm using StudioRack for parallel processing, I placed it directly on the stereo (master) bus. No rules in terms of headroom, I prefer to have at least 6dB of headroom for mastering if possible!
