Awesome job. Beautiful piece. A couple ideas to help you. Yellow ochre keeps solder from flowing to unwanted areas a hack is white out does the same. You can buy an extension cord for your tank so you don’t have to hold the bottle. You can use your fordome hammer to set your stone. If you don’t have a burnished you can use the back of a spoon to burnish and finish your bezel.

The angled stamping goes well with the interesting pattern in the jasper. Glad to see a part two!

I'm really happy to see you're posting again. Your videos have been very informative and helpful. One of them came up in my recommendations a little while ago and so impressed that I added you to my subscriptions on the chance that you'd start posting again some day. I hope you've been well and wish you every success for the new year.

Hi again, so you use a polishing cloth on the bottom of your bezel and on the back plate before soldering? A polishing cloth has polishing compound IN it, polishing compound will hinder a good join, the metal is then essentially "dirty" after using a polishing cloth. Also, having the "tooth" of a good sanding is the best surface to surface "clean" for a good join. Flux will keep it clean too. I'm sharing some tips because you've mentioned that you are self taught... I hope input is helpful. I appreciate how conscientiously you fabricate, for a clean quality setting. I like your channel, you seem humble - how refreshing! 😅

What an interesting pendant; it’s very angular and yet you’ve added touches that give it an organic feel. I love it. Your soldering tip in the previous vid is awesome. I will definitely be placing the solder pallion underneath the seam of the bezel from now on! I notice you said you like using steel wool after you have used liver of sulphur; me too. I now use the steel wool attachments for my dremel. They come in brushes and discs, such a time saver and great for nooks and crevices. Hope you are staying safe and well 🤘

I get my jewelry supplies through Rio Grande mainly, and I do my own lapidary work with old stock stone material I’ve bought and collected over the years :) @eckel.lapidary on Instagram if you care to take a look! 🙏🏼

@@SeanEckelArt I got a NOS 2004 214 6 years ago, lovely sound. When they were still solid sitka, mahogany b&s, no laminate, made in USA. No electrics, either. I'm going to take your ideas and get back into smithing. Too many nice cabs laying around. I'm following you on IG now. Off to the gem & mineral show. Glad I found your channel. Hard to find ppl into smithing AND guitars.

That’s awesome! I’m glad my video inspired you a bit :) and yea I play a lot, trained as a bass player but focus a lot on guitar these days. Thanks for following my work! I’m excited to do more videos partly because I’ve started recording all my own music for them, and it’s a big motivation to get back into song writing

Do cabs have "girdles"?
@SeanEckelArt
@SeanEckelArt 4 жыл бұрын
Yea the girdle is the wall of the cab, so an even girdle is important when you’re using a bezel to set your stone so it’s the same height all around :)
